Brazilian government wants pregnant women monitored

Brazilian public and private healthcare institutions will be forced, by compulsory norm, to identify and register all pregnant women in Brazil, according to the National System of Register, Surveillance and Follow-up of Pregnant Women for Maternal Mortality Prevention, established by the administration of Socialist President Dilma Rousseff in its Provisory Measure no. 557/11 in 26/12/11. A provisory measure is a legal act in Brazil through which the President of Brazil can enact laws without approval by the National Congress.

At first glance, the federal plan seems done out of concern for women, with its assumption of taking care of high-risk pregnant women, imposing prenatal exams and granting a maximum monetary aid of US $25 for prenatal and postpartum follow-up. The poorest women will jump of joy for the state generosity.

The government says that is forcing all healthcare institutions to register all the women just to know how many women are in a high-risk situation.

However, it is worthwhile to ask some questions: What is the reason for decreeing urgently a Provisory Measure right on December 26, when the whole population of Brazil, including congressmen, was distracted by Christmas? What is the reason to compulsorily register all pregnant women under the excuse of helping pregnancy if the politics and ideology of the ruling Workers’ Party of Rousseff is to legalize abortion in Brazil?

That Provisory Measure was drafted by a government full of feminists that claim that legalization of abortion strengthens the women’s human rights, who treat abortion as a “right to choose” in the cases of normal pregnancy; in other words, to abort (kill) the baby “simply” because a woman should have the freedom of deciding if she wants to continue or not a pregnancy.

It is scary that the Provisory Measure, which is already in force, has focused on the compulsory control of all pregnant women in Brazil as public healthcare issue, but it remains totally silent on the unborn baby and his value and protection.

The 3rd article, clause V, points that the focus is only a woman, never her baby:

“V — to establish politics, programs and actions aimed at improving the healthcare for high-risk pregnant women.”

The 7th article, clauses IV and VI, establishes measures to avoid new female deaths, but it totally excludes unborn babies. Hey, don’t unborn babies also die?

So is it possible that there are other reasons behind the government’s plan? To establish and strengthen an obligatory system to prepare women to interrupt a pregnancy in certain cases? To implement eugenics? Let us see:

“IV: to inform, through computerized system, deaths of pregnant women, adding information about investigation on the death causes and of the measures to be taken to avoid new deaths;

“VI: to propose to federal, state, and municipal administrators of SUS (the Brazilian public healthcare system) the adoption of necessary measures to guarantee access and improve healthcare of pregnant women, and prevent maternal death.”

The most worrying fact is that the Provisory Measure limits the woman’s right to freedom when it forces her to register in a control and surveillance system just because she is pregnant, even though she has a personal health plan and is healthy, with no need for the State for anything. The Provisory Measure leaves pregnant women at the mercy of the state control and intrusion.

To remove the citizens’ freedom is not a democratic action. It is an action of totalitarian governments.

In Brazil, now it is enough for a woman to be pregnant and the State will begin, sooner or later, to control the fruit of her womb compulsorily, regardless of her choices. With such a control, it will be easy for the Brazilian government to impose the number of children that a woman can have and to demand birth control on her, as UN sees fit. After all, the compulsory register system of pregnant women in Brazil has been established to meet UN requirements.

In the short and long run, what will the Brazilian government do to regulate its control on pregnant women? What will happen to unborn babies and their protection? If the Brazilian government decides that an unborn baby with Down syndrome is a risk pregnancy and his mother decides to continue, what will the government do? If a mother has some health problem and decides that her pregnancy is to continue, what will the government do? Which “medical” pressures will a woman suffer in the compulsory system of state prenatal follow-up?

Because it removes the mothers’ freedom and completely overlooks the unborn babies’ protection, the Brazilian Provisory Measure should be denounced.

The perfect concern for mothers involves guaranteeing her full freedom and protection and the protection of life from conception on.

At last, will Brazil have an antiterror legislation?

If the United States has a law against terror, Brazil also needs to have it. It is with that concern that Brazilian senator Aloysio Nunes Ferreira drafted a bill classifying as terrorism “the conduct of provoking or instilling terror or widespread panic through offense to the physical integrity or privation of a person’s freedom, for ideological, religious, political or social prejudice, ethnic, ‘homophobic’ or xenophobe reason. The punishment reaches 30 years of imprisonment in case of murder.”

However, the Brazilian press made it clear that such law is not an answer to the famous massacre in Rio de Janeiro, where journalists and the government itself clouded the murderer’s Islamic motivation.

The law is not also an answer to political terror. The famous Celso Daniel case has been for years accumulating corpses and cover-ups, and the Brazilian press doesn’t dare to connect it to political terror or Mafia, although everybody involved were members of the socialist, ruling Workers’ Party PT and had explicit interests to silence Celso Daniel, a Workers’ Party mayor that administered millions in illegal funds for the Workers’ Party electoral campaigns.

The senator recognized that “there is no consensus about the definition of what terrorism is.” Even so, his bill makes terror into a non-bailable and unpardonable crime, and it attacks directly the funding sources for terror.

The lack of a consensus on terror definition leaves the field open for hazy interpretations.

The Brazilian antiterror law will, basically, follow the spirit of the American law, which doesn’t aim at Muslims or Muslim motivations for terrorist crimes. In fact, after the terrorist attack to the World Trade Center in 2001, George Bush, the conservative US president, began to proclaim to the whole world that “Islam is a religion of peace.” With such “John the Baptist” of Islamic flattery preparing the road, it was perfectly natural for the next White House occupier to be not only leftist, but also radically pro-Islam.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which was created specifically in response to the first, biggest terrorist attack to the US, has a lot of difficulty today to criticize Islamic radicals, although all the terrorists involved in that attack to the US were Islamic.

However, DHS has not been having difficulty of aiming at Christian groups for activities against abortion and against the so called gay “marriage.” In its fight against “terror”, DHS has been monitoring Christians, including my blog.

That picture gives us an idea on how the terror definition will come for the Brazilian law, which will follow the main concerns from the government and media, which faithfully obey Bush’s and Obama’s “doctrine”: Islam is a religion of peace. Therefore, their concern is not Islamic radicals.

The Brazilian media and government’s obsessive worry has been Christians and their “homophobia”, and each assault and murder of homosexuals in places of prostitution gives leftist journalists full opportunities to spend one week criticizing Christian “homophobia”, which “incites” assaults and murders.

With the antiterror law enforced, these journalists can maneuver their “reports” to invoke the government’s intervention against “terror” and against its funding sources. In my case, even without a Brazilian legislation, a campaign by an American gay group closed my PayPal account.

How then is one to define what terrorism is in Brazil? If a journalist asks a gay activist if he considers as “terrorist” a Christian that is opposed to homosexual “marriage” or gay adoption, his answer will be a resounding “yes.” And the Brazilian government and media will pay all attention to him.

Don’t have any false expectations. If approved, the antiterror law will make Brazil take an important step for the “Americanization” of its laws.

According to Reuters, the US government began, in June 2010, to monitor websites, blogs and including Facebook and Twitter.

This disturbing news only became headline now, but in the end of July, 2010, just one month after the US surveillance on blogs, WND, the most important conservative website, denounced that my blog was being monitored by the US government.

The Reuters story explains that blogs opposed to Islam have been blacklisted by the US government. The surveillance is being executed especially by the Department of Homeland Security.

There is no information, though, that the US government is monitoring blogs and websites advocating homosexuality and Islam.

This is a very interesting surveillance: advocate Islam and sodomy, and the US government let you alone. Criticize them, and Big Brother keeps an eye on you. I know it by experience. After all, my blog was one of the first blogs to be blacklisted.

(Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's command center routinely monitors dozens of popular websites, including Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, WikiLeaks and news and gossip sites including the Huffington Post and Drudge Report, according to a government document.

A "privacy compliance review" issued by DHS last November says that since at least June 2010, its national operations center has been operating a "Social Networking/Media Capability" which involves regular monitoring of "publicly available online forums, blogs, public websites and message boards."

The purpose of the monitoring, says the government document, is to "collect information used in providing situational awareness and establishing a common operating picture."

The document adds, using more plain language, that such monitoring is designed to help DHS and its numerous agencies, which include the U.S. Secret Service and Federal Emergency Management Agency, to manage government responses to such events as the 2010 earthquake and aftermath in Haiti and security and border control related to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia.

A DHS official familiar with the monitoring program said that it was intended purely to enable command center officials to keep in touch with various Internet-era media so that they were aware of major, developing events to which the Department or its agencies might have to respond.

The document outlining the monitoring program says that all the websites which the command center will be monitoring were "publicly available and... all use of data published via social media sites was solely to provide more accurate situational awareness, a more complete common operating pictures, and more timely information for decision makers..."

The DHS official said that under the program's rules, the department would not keep permanent copies of the internet traffic it monitors. However, the document outlining the program does say that the operations center "will retain information for no more than five years."

The monitoring scheme also features a five-page list, attached to the privacy review document, of websites the Department's command center expected to be monitoring.

CONTROVERSIAL SITES

These include social networking sites Facebook and My Space - though there is a parenthetical notice that My Space only affords a "limited search" capability - and more than a dozen sites that monitor, aggregate and enable searches of Twitter messages and exchanges.

Among blogs and aggregators on the list are ABC News' investigative blog "The Blotter;" blogs that cover bird flu; several blogs related to news and activity along U.S. borders (DHS runs border and immigration agencies); blogs that cover drug trafficking and cybercrime; and websites that follow wildfires in Los Angeles and hurricanes.

News and gossip sites on the monitoring list include popular destinations such as the Drudge Report, Huffington Post and "NY Times Lede Blog", as well as more focused techie fare such as the Wired blogs "Threat Level" and "Danger Room." Numerous blogs related to terrorism and security are also on the list.

Some of the sites on the list are potentially controversial. WikiLeaks is listed for monitoring, even though officials in some other government agencies were warned against using their official computers to access WikiLeaks material because much of it is still legally classified under U.S. government rules.

Another blog on the list, Cryptome, also periodically posts leaked documents and was one of the first websites to post information related to the Homeland Security monitoring program.

Also on the list are JihadWatch and Informed Comment, blogs that cover issues related to Islam through sharp political prisms, which have sometimes led critics to accuse the sites of political bias.

Also on the list are various video and photo-sharing sites, including Hulu, Youtube and Flickr.

While a DHS official involved in the monitoring program confirmed the authenticity of the list, officials authorized to speak for the Department did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment.

My strange visitors

United States Army Information System Command headquarters visiting my pro-family blog?

The Department of Homeland Security. The Human Rights Campaign. The USAISC headquarters. These were some of my strange visitors in the last six months.

On July 27 and 29, 2011, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appeared in my tracking report visiting my English blog. About this visit, WorldNetDaily, the most important conservative news website in English, reported,

“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has begun watching a blog posted by a Christian who was forced to flee Brazil because of the conflict between that nation’s pro-homosexual ‘hate crimes’ agenda and his advocacy for traditional marriage. Exactly why the U.S. government, which several times has linked Christians and conservatives with terrorism, is watching Julio Severo’s unabashedly Christian Last Days Watchman blog isn’t clear. A WND request to the DHS for comment did not generate a response”.

DHS refused to answer regarding its intentions or visits to my blog. But the intents of the Obama administration are not obscure. Last month, the US government announced that advancing the homosexual agenda would be one of its top foreign policy priorities, and directed all of its embassies, consulates and other US government entities that operate overseas to make this agenda a priority.

So if gay activists enjoy the top favor with the US government, are opponents of the gay agenda in the “hit list”? Probably, they are not yet aiming at pro-family Christians to kill them, but certainly to kill their ministries and financial resources.

On August 21, 2011, the Human Rights Campaign was recorded visiting my blog in a tracking report. This is the most powerful homosexual organization in America. In the next few days, AllOut, a heavily-funded gay group, launched an online petition campaign to have accounts of 10 pro-family groups cut off from PayPal. Even though I am not an organization, my name was included in this public gay campaign, and my account was closed. To me, PayPal explained that I am ineligible to receive donations from my friends and readers because “you are not a registered non-profit organization”. To AllOut, PayPal explained that they closed my account because “We take very seriously any cases where a user has incited hatred, violence or intolerance because of a person’s sexual orientation”.

Now, I can no longer receive donations from my friends through PayPal. Again, WorldNetDaily denounced the attack against my blog.

I wonder what would have happened if a homosexual activist had had his PayPal account closed after a Christian conservative campaign. Probably, he would be able to walk into any US embassy and consulate anywhere in the world and say, “Hey, I am a gay under persecution from conservative Christians. PayPal even closed my account because of these Christians!” He would be immediately put at the front of the line to migrate to the United States as an Obama-favored individual and receive legal assistance to sue PayPal!

At least, our case is one of the top concerns of Christians. The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission ranked the gay pressure on PayPal as fourth top anti-Christian act of 2011.

The latest visitor: the United States Army Information System Command (USAISC)

The latest visitor to my blog was the strangest: the visit was tracked directly to the United States Army Information System Command (USAISC) headquarters! If my English blog has a fan there, I wonder if USAISC, which has a secure, sophisticated, internal communication system, allows its visitors or military employees to access external internet.

The United States is one of the leading Christian nations in the world, but has a government that has been actively promoting the gay agenda through its “aid” agencies and embassies. And since USAISC is part of the US government, it would be no wonder if it has been monitoring opposition to the new US “interests”. What is important to gay activists is important to the US government, and recently The Advocate, the largest gay magazine in America, took a recent look at my blog. So why can’t the gay-friendly Department of Homeland Security, Human Rights Campaign and USAISC headquarters take a “look” too?

I would like to think that the strange visitor to my blog is just a sign that I have a friend in the USAISC headquarters. If not, the Christian answer to military threats should be the same answer given by Elisha: “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (2 Kings 6:16 ESV)

Besides, God has his own armies and he can destroy any wicked army: “And that night the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.” (2 Kings 19:35 ESV)

Even though the US Army has many Christian members, God has no commitment to bless or protect a government actively promoting homosexuality, abortion and other evils around the world.

May Christian men in the US Army advance God’s Kingdom while the US government and its army are fighting it.

Americans were asked to name the top 10 Anti-Christian Acts of 2011 in the US, and the fourth place was given to the homosexual effort to close PayPal accounts from a list of ten Christian organizations, including me. For a long time I have been under attack from Brazilian gay activists. But this was the first time that an American gay group blacklists me with major Christian groups.

Top Anti-Christian Acts of 2011 Revealed

The year 2011 saw plenty of anti-Christian rhetoric in the media—and plenty of anti-Christian acts against every day Joes and Janes standing up for what they believe.

DefendChristians.Org, a ministry of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission, asked its members to vote on the top 10 anti-Christian acts of 2011 in the U.S.

"I am always surprised at the results of our poll and this year is no exception," says Dr. Gary Cass of DefendChristians.Org. "The fact the No. 1 and No. 2 issues are public policy and political in nature shows Christians are very concerned about the political direction of the country. I wouldn't be surprised if this translates into a strong political response in 2012."

Here are the results of the voting:

10. NBC television network twice took the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance in its lead up to the U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club.

9. In Franklin, Mass., a pro-life man was beaten by the police for peacefully handing out pro-life materials. The police accused him of conspiring to plant bombs.

8. A Christian man in Minnesota was fired from his job because one of his female co-workers attended a Bible study that his wife led.

7. A Christian Florida teacher was suspended after school administrators discovered his support of traditional marriage posted on the Internet.

6. In Kalispell, Mon., pro-lifers were attacked by a firebomb during a prayer vigil in front of an abortion clinic. No one was hurt, but a police officer remarked pro-lifers should expect this sort of reaction to their activities.

5. Because of a complaint filed by the ACLU, the liberal 9th Circuit Court ruled that the Mt. Soledad War Memorial in San Diego was unconstitutional.

4. A homosexual activist effort caused investigations by the online money transfer company, PayPal, against pro-family Christian organizations.

3. A Bible study was shut down by San Juan Capistrano, Calif., officials who claimed the group needed a permit because it posed a risk to public safety and health.

2. President Obama declared June "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month" and hosted a White House celebration by homosexuals.

1. California Gov. Jerry Brown signs a bill forcing public school curriculum and textbooks to "celebrate" homosexuals, transgenders and bisexuals.

World’s biggest gay magazine: no compassion and tolerance for a former lesbian and her daughter

The Advocate, the biggest gay magazine in America and, in its own words, “The World’s Leading News Source for LGBT”, has just put its sights on LifeSiteNews and me in its defense of lesbian activist Janet Jenkins.

The Advocate: Mockery of Christ

The mission of The Advocate, as its name implies, is to advocate — for the gay agenda and its militants. Jenkins wants the daughter of her former lesbian partner Lisa Miller, who renounced homosexuality for Jesus. Regardless of the well-being of the girl, the infamous mission is to “rescue” her from her own biological mother to give her to an unrelated lesbian.

What would make a lesbian pursue the custody of a child at the expense of her biological mother? Of course, gay readers of The Advocate agree with any gay mission, as long as the gay agenda is ultimately exalted. But one lesbian commentator, who sided with Jenkins, asked the tough question:

“The child was about a year old when they split up and Miller has been the sole parent of the child for all this time. So any question of whether she is a fit or unfit mother is moot… I understand the heartache Jenkins must feel for her loss but what kind of relationship could she possibly have at this point if Miller is uncooperative and hostile?”

In fact, Jenkins was able to have some time with Isabella, in court-ordered visits that left the girl traumatized.

Yet, who else is asking tough questions? The US government, which is actively promoting the gay agenda around the world, wants nothing to do with tough questions detrimental to the homosexualist interests. And the FBI, to its own shame, is after a girl and her natural mother, because an unrelated lesbian wants her, at all costs.

The cost has been high, indeed. So far, two ministers have been arrested, because they helped Lisa Miller and her daughter Isabella flee the United States. Rev. Timothy Miller was arrested by FBI when he arrived at the US from his missionary work in Nicaragua. He was arrested at the airport in the presence of his wife and four children. To show PC compassion to the interests and ambitions of a lesbian activist, the FBI had to show cruelty to a Christian family.

In its investigations, the FBI decoded the Pennsylvania German language used by the ministers in their efforts to transfer Lisa Miller and her daughter from the United States to Canada, then to Mexico, then to Nicaragua and then to Ecuador — as alleged by The Advocate. (If the FBI had been this effective in decoding the “language” of Islamic terrorists before 2001, 9/11 would have never happened!) Subsequently, another minister was arrested. It is implacable persecution solely to serve the gay agenda.

The Advocate, satisfied with the FBI engagement, implied that LifeSiteNews may be involved. Hey, publish any article defending a former lesbian and her daughter, and the Gaystapo will say that you have committed a crime against the gay agenda. And perhaps many Christians have begun accepting the wrong-headed idea that it is a crime to defend this helpless mother and her daughter, because while the secular and gay media have been vocal about the “rights” of Janet Jenkins, the Christian media are largely silent.

By the way, The Advocate has also mentioned me, calling me and other Christians “antigay”, just because we do not accept the gay agenda, and just because we oppose the wickedness that the gay agenda has been committing against Lisa Miller and her daughter.

The Advocate said,

“In a December 1 Life Site News op-ed titled ‘Cowardice: The State and Homosexualist Powers Against a Former Lesbian and Her Daughter,’ Brazilian antigay activist Julio Severo characterized Lisa Miller and her daughter as victims in a perceived war against religious freedom. Jenkins, meanwhile, was cast as a predator and cynical ‘lesbian activist.’”

If Miller and her biological daughter are not victims, what are they? Oppressors of Jenkins? Poor Jenkins: the FBI and the liberal mass press have been smearing her, because Miller refuses to return her biological daughter! How cynical Miller is to defend her daughter!

The homosexual desires of Jenkins are more important than Miller’s biological motherhood, more important than Jesus Christ (to whom Lisa and her daughter have dedicated their lives) and more important than the moral, spiritual and physical well-being of Isabella herself.

Another The Advocate commentator noted,

“The issue here is simple. Isabella does not belong to Jenkins because she is not her biological mother or father. No court or government has the right to force custody like this. The sooner Jenkins understands this the better.”

In spite of all the facts, the blind militancy of The Advocate and its supporters keep them from accepting basic realities, biological and otherwise. Instead, people are forced to accept their unnatural realities. And the US government and the FBI side with them, not with Miller, me or LifeSiteNews, to make sure the unnatural takes precedence over the natural, for the sake of homosexuality and its agenda.

So what now? Should LifeSiteNews be targeted for FBI surveillance? Should I also be targeted for FBI surveillance, because of my article defending the oppressed, not the oppressor? “Oh, sure!” The Advocate and its gay chorus would shout. Other radicals would say, “Arrest him!” “Crucify him” — this last wish came from a Brazilian gay in a homosexual website. The Advocate could reply, “Oh, we are not that mean! FBI and imprisonment is enough”.

And, actually, the FBI is making arrests. Kenneth Miller, the second minister arrested, was under FBI surveillance for other religious contacts that helped Lisa Miller and her daughter. The FBI is determined to arrest any other evangelical minister involved in their defense. If such FBI surveillance had targeted Islamic contacts, it would have been labeled a hate crime. Apparently, only gays and Muslims are entitled to protest government interference in PC America.

With such FBI policies, how can America be safe? Yet, what does it matter to the liberal US government and liberal media? The important thing is to make the gay agenda safe, regardless how unsafe the innocent will be.

Evangelical ministers, a biological mother and her daughter: everybody may be left on the lurch, except for Jenkins and other homosexualists, who are granted government and media favors and privileges.

Meanwhile, those who supported Lisa Miller and her daughter, in the face of threats and imprisonments, are not receiving any media support and have no powerful friend like the FBI to help them. Instead, their meager support comes from a few churches.

Mennonite churches affiliated with Rev. Kenneth Miller have created a website expressing “solidarity with Ken as he faces charges for choices and actions we believe were correct. By God’s grace we would want to make the same choices he did. Our involvement with Lisa and Isabella Miller has stemmed from a desire to obey our Lord Jesus — both His commands and example”.

This was the proper Christian response in the times of Nazi and Communist tyranny.

Associated Press defends Umbanda as an “Afro-Brazilian religion under threat”

Lying in a pentagram is Rosa Cardoso, a woman that has practiced the Afro-Brazilian religion of Umbanda most her life and, according to the Associated Press (AP), has been “hiding her faith from the rest of the world”.

“Century-old Afro-Brazilian religion under threat”, the AP report by Juliana Barbassa, makes no mention of animal sacrifices, a practice not uncommon in the Afro-Brazilian religions. And, because her article obviously intended to portray Umbanda in a positive light as a threatened, poor religion, this omission was necessary.

I grew up seeing in the Brazilian crossroads of my neighborhood offerings to the African spirits. These offerings comprised fruits, food, alcohol beverages, cigarettes and sacrificed animals such as goats. Interestingly, the English version of Wikipedia has also no mention of animal sacrifices in its entry on Umbanda. Its Portuguese version makes a mere passing mention, saying that these sacrifices are practiced only by some Umbanda ramifications.

By reading this AP report and the English Wikipedia, you see no sacrifices. But when you live in Brazil in a place where there is a lot of “hidden” Umbanda, you see a lot of these weekly, very visible offerings to the African spirits in the crossroads. A lot of sacrificed animals.

The AP omission hit other aspects of this “threatened” religion. Young women that want to entice an employer turn to Umbanda to receive “assistance” from the African gods. Married men, who do not understand what is happening, are driven to an obsessive adultery under the powerful influence of spiritual forces.

Yet, the AP worry was the “intolerance and outright hostility against Umbanda, as well as Brazil’s other major African-descended religion Candomble”. AP reports that Rosa “Cardoso said she’s learned not to let down her guard when it comes to protecting herself from religious scorn. This country of 190 million remains predominantly Roman Catholic, even as Pentecostal congregations have won over legions of converts”.

The AP “report” said,

Many in Rio can rattle off the names of a few Orixas, and thousands of believers and sympathizers flock to beaches on New Year's dressed in white to leave offerings for the ocean goddess Iemanja.

Nonetheless, many Brazilians often view Umbanda and Candomble as barely benign versions of witchcraft, and believers are loath to acknowledge publicly they follow the faiths. In many parts of the country, practicing Umbanda was outlawed until the 1950s, and in the following three decades believers were supposed to register with the police.

Umbanda was founded a little more than a century ago, drawing from older traditions such as Catholicism, the beliefs of enslaved Yoruba people brought from West Africa, the spirituality of Brazil’s indigenous groups and the teachings of 19th century French spiritualist Allan Kardec.

The religion has many variations, but all share belief in a supreme being, Oxala, and in a pantheon of other African-origin deities, many of whom are identified with a Catholic saint and with natural forces or elements. They also believe these deities, along with other spirits, can enter the body of psychics to advise and interact with the living.

A city survey in 2011 found 847 Umbanda houses of worship in Rio, though like Cardoso’s they’re often not easy to spot.

Coincidently, the Rio de Janeiro state has almost 50% of all murders in Brazil. This was another omission in the AP “report”. Umbanda has gods for prostitution and even destruction, including death. And Rio has a lot of these.

AP says,

Brazil’s post-dictatorship 1989 constitution enshrined the freedom to hold such ceremonies, but Umbanda’s followers say official disdain and intense prejudice still put their lives and shrines at risk.

[A] report, which was submitted to the U.N. Human Rights Council by a Brazilian religious-freedom group, details 39 cases of discrimination around the country in 2009.

AP fails to report that the former Lula administration and the current Dilma Rousseff administration (both the most socialist governments in the Brazilian history) had and have active policies to protect Afro-Brazilian religions as a “culture” inherited from African slaves. While Catholic and Protestant traditions have increasingly been banned from schools and other government places because the State is “secular”, Afro-Brazilian religions and their practices are making inroads, with state assistance, into schools and other places, in a privileged way. Because Christianity is religion, and Afro-Brazilian religions are “culture”.

With such state protections, even Brazilian Blacks are banned from criticizing the Afro-Brazilian gods, as reported by me in WND:

“In Rio, a Pentecostal [Black] minister led a criminal to Jesus and convinced him to deliver himself to police. Rev. Isaías da Silva Andrade accompanied the former criminal to police and when they asked how his life had been changed, the minister answered that the former criminal lived under the influence of demons from Afro-Brazilian religions which inspired him to criminal conduct, but now he found salvation in Jesus. Because of this innocent account, Rev. Andrade is now being prosecuted for discrimination against the Afro-Brazilian ‘culture’! If condemned, he will serve between two and five years in jail.”

As a son of a former Umbanda leader who accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I see no problem in speaking the truth about the witchcraft derived from Africa. In fact, Brazilians remember, when there was still no veil of racial censorship, the regular scandals reported by media of pai-de-santos (Afro-Brazilian priests) involved in a number of child sacrifices.

In his book Porque Deus Condena o Espiritismo (Why God condemns spiritualism, CPAD: Rio de Janeiro, 1987, pages 66-68), journalist Jefferson Magno Costa tells of a case:

It was noon when he found little Fernando, a 9-year-old boy, walking along the railroad track near the city of São Roque, in the rural area of São Paulo. He took the boy home, asked his lover (with whom he had been living for some weeks), Dalva Braga Medeiros, to give the boy food and change his clothes.

Dalva was slow to comply and he took the clothes of one of the woman’s children and put them on Fernando. After drinking blue rum, he took the boy by his hand and went out, saying that he was going to buy more rum. Upon his return, Dalva saw blood stains on the little Fernando’s clothes. Immediately she understood that the boy had been raped.

Some minutes later, he invited Fernando to go out again, but because the boy refused and showed fear, he decided to call 12-year-old Rogério, Dalva’s son, to keep company with that scared and defenseless child, and to “see how a little pig is killed”.

Leading the two boys up to a hilltop, he drew a trident on the floor. Next, as Rogério reported, he grabbed little Fernando by his neck and jabbed a knife deeply into his chest. But, unsatisfied because the boy was slow to die, pai-de-santo Josué Rodrigues de Souza made a four-inch cut on the neck of the small victim, and began to lick his blood.

After committing this abominable, horrendous and devilish act, the pai-de-santo murderer called Dalva, “because she had never seen a sacrifice”. He showed her the dead child covered in blood. He confessed to her that he’d committed the murder under possession of demon Zé Capoeira, and that he raped the child before killing him, “because Satan does not accept the soul of pure people” (O Globo newspaper, 13/03/1986). “I had to kill a person and give his blood to Satan. He was demanding”, were his words when seized after the crime. (Veja magazine 19/03/1986, p. 111).

Journalist Jefferson Magno notes,

The atrocious crime committed by pai-de-santo Josué is only one of hundreds of cases involving people that, thinking that they are serving God, are serving Satan… Given the numerous cases of that kind reported by press, it is sad that the outrage of the general populace has no memory. Society forgets things easily. Some years ago, pai-de-santo Waldir Souza Lima was taken into custody in Rio, because he killed, in black magic rituals, six children abducted in different locations in the State of Rio. (Page 73)

In the past, newspapers were free to report and denounce child sacrifices in the Afro-Brazilian religions. You can find a lot of old reports on these crimes involving child rapes and murders by Afro-Brazilian priests. But nowadays, under the watchful state eye, only flattering reports are allowed, such as “oppressed” religion, “threatened” religion and other words that the AP “report” used abundantly.

Today, the Brazilian media no longer reports pai-de-santos sacrificing children. And they are unwilling to talk about other related crimes.

When Pentecostal minister Francisco de Paula Cunha de Miranda was stabbed to death by an Afro-Brazilian priest in 2008, the Brazilian media was silent.

Miranda, 47, was murdered in Rio Grande do Sul. He was Black (and cannot, even after his death, be accused of “racism”) and was on his 33rd day of fasting and prayer when pai-de-santo Júlio César Bonato, incorporated by exu caveira (demon of death in the Afro-Brazilian “culture”), left his temple during a ritual to go to the minister.

The pai-de-santo returned to his ritual with his ritualistic knife bloody.

The minister, who was very weak because of the long fasting, was stabbed to death.

The Brazilian media remains silent about this horrific murder even today. Even the AP “report” made no mention of this crime.

Last year, a group of Umbanda adherents stabbed to death another evangelical, Nilton Rodrigues, 34, and wounded others, including an evangelical minister, João Carlos de Oliveira. Media was silent again.

I am worried that this special protection may have been made strong by Condoleezza Rice, a famous daughter of an American Presbyterian minister. She came to Brazil to strength the roots of the Afro-Brazilian religions. Her example shows that the Afro-Brazilian religions are now an international interest.

The “Brazilian religious-freedom group”, which AP said that denounced Brazilian evangelicals in the UN, is headed by an Afro-Brazilian priest, who has a high standing with the Brazilian government, which sends him to the UN meetings to denounce Brazilian evangelicals, who denounce Afro-Brazilian religions as witchcraft. As in the case of homosexuality, the mere criticism of them is treated as “prejudice, bias, discrimination, intolerance”, etc. Now, even Catholic books criticizing them are banned.

Afro-Brazilian practices that have always been seen as witchcraft by the Brazilian society have increasingly been protected by the government, UN and media. And Christianity and its values have increasingly lost protection and even been attacked by them.

Sodomy, which has been extoled and afforded the status of a special human right in the UN, is largely practiced by Afro-Brazilian religions, where their gods and spirits entice and lead their adherents, especially their priests, into prostitution, including homosexuality.

Will this sodomy-loving religion have a special status in the New World Order?

Economic and ecological disasters are flooding the world, but whatever happens, people will not renounce Umbanda, Santeria and homosexuality, because, even after many last-day plagues, God says that mankind will not “repent of their sorceries or their sexual immorality” (Revelation 9:20-21 ESV).

Cowardice: the state and homosexualist powers against a former lesbian and her daughter

The FBI is after Lisa Miller and her daughter Isabella. At any time, they may be captured. At any time, Isabella may be kidnapped by the FBI and her mother arrested.

Rev. Timothy David “Timo” Miller, who acted courageously in his defense of a persecuted child and her mother, has now made a deal with federal prosecutors, who are seeking to take Isabella Miller away from her mother and give her to an unrelated lesbian. No one knows exactly what this deal is, but prosecutors appear to be pleased with the results.

Miller’s case is disturbing: He was arrested last spring when he returned to the United States from Nicaragua, where he worked as a missionary. He was charged with helping Lisa Miller (no relation) flee the United States with Isabella, her 9-year-old daughter.

Even more disturbing is the fact that a Vermont court gave the custody of Isabella to Janet Jenkins, a lesbian activist and former sexual partner of Lisa Miller.

Jenkins and Miller had been joined in a Vermont civil union in 2000 and, two years later, Miller gave birth to daughter Isabella, conceived by artificial insemination. The lesbian union ended in 2003, with Miller accepting Jesus Christ in her life and renouncing homosexuality. She became a Baptist, then a Mennonite.

But Jenkins, her former partner and the owner of a daycare, has never renounced her homosexuality or her activism. Even though she has no biological connection with Isabella and had chosen not to include her name as a “parent” of the girl on the birth certificate, Jenkins, probably under the ideological inspiration of other homosexualists, began a custody fight, having initially been awarded the “right” to have the girl for visits. One of the consequences of these unsupervised, court-ordered visits was that Isabella herself complained of being forced to bathe naked with Jenkins. The girl was being traumatized by the first steps to force her into the lesbian lifestyle.

“Isabella suffers from sleep disturbance and nightmares, having difficulty sleeping through the night,” Gwen Corley, a social worker, told the court in September, 2007. Before the court-ordered visits, the girl was a well-adjusted, healthy child, according to a June, 2007, sworn testimony of Clinical Therapist Sylvia Haydash, who had clinical sessions with Isabella.

Miller tried to protect Isabella from these morally-harmful visits, but then a court awarded full custody to Jenkins, who was able, with her homosexual connections, to summon the entire court and police apparatus to her aid.

To shield her biological daughter from further trauma at the hands of an obsessed lesbian activist, her biological mother took the hard decision to flee her own country. Into this hopeless scenario enters Rev. Timothy Miller, who just wanted to help. As a missionary in Nicaragua, he brought hope to a lonely mother and her daughter, arranging a hiding place for them among Mennonites in the Central American nation.

Perhaps Rev. Miller was not expecting to be arrested or to see the FBI involved in the case, accusing him of abetting a “kidnapping.”

But at this point he became acutely aware that the gay agenda is vastly bigger than he had previously thought. Indeed, the movement has a massive support from courts and law-enforcement agencies.

Prosecutors ultimately secured Miller’s cooperation, presumably through threats of imprisonment. They know that Lisa Miller and Isabella traveled to Nicaragua in September 2009 where a group of Mennonite missionaries had helped shelter them. They also know that mother and daughter were last seen in Nicaragua in the spring of 2010.

Earlier this year, a Mennonite pastor in Nicaragua told AP, “the Nicaraguan brethren felt it right and good to help Lisa not only free herself from the so called civil marriage and lesbian lifestyle, but especially to protect her 9-year-old daughter from being abducted and handed over to an active lesbian and a rabid activist.”

Rev. Miller is now free from the ominous claws of the FBI, which in a sane legal system would persecute thugs and terrorists. But Lisa and Isabella are not free: the FBI is after them. At any time, they may be captured. At any time, Isabella may be kidnapped by the FBI and her mother arrested.

America is resurrecting Sodom with a vengeance, supported by the formidable power of the State. While Christian social services in the US are losing their traditional right to help children because they refuse state orders to adopt children to homosexual couples, lesbian activist Janet Jenkins is free to run a day care. And because of Janet’s radical activism, Isabella and her mother are not free or safe from massive state persecution. Persecution for their faith and their refusal to compromise with evil.

This tragedy was made possible only because gay civil unions were allowed in Vermont. And when homosexual “marriage” is allowed, the gay agenda and the State become united in an unholy “marriage,” where special rights and freedoms are granted to those in the footsteps of Sodom. This unholy “marriage” enables homosexual activists to oppress and persecute people who renounce homosexual perversion, with assistance of the FBI, which has effectively become — at least in the Jenkins-Miller case — a Gaystapo.

Rev. Miller tried to oppose this unholy “marriage” and its threats against Lisa and Isabella, but it proved too strong for him. Consequently, he was arrested. Only through a compromise was he released from prison. In exchange for his testimony in future proceedings in the case against Isabella’s mother, federal prosecutors dropped criminal charges against him.

It is a major disgrace for the United States of America that a helpless mother and her daughter have been left to face alone State bullies serving the interests of the gay agenda.

Where are the honorable men and women of the US and the world who will confront this state-sanctioned homosexualist cowardice?

What you can do:

Pray that God will lead Lisa and Isabella in his grace, mercy and power.

Pray that the FBI and other authorities working for darkness and wickedness will be covered in confusion and shame.

Pray that God will bring blindness to those planning to arrest and kidnap Lisa and Isabella (see 2 Kings 6:18).

Pray that ultimately the name of Jesus Christ will be honored.

PayPal returns frozen funds to pro-family activist following internet protest

November 29, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) — The PayPal corporation has returned funds it froze mid-September in pro-life and pro-family activist Julio Severo’s account following a campaign by militant homosexuals to cut Severo off from the company’s service.

Following several weeks of unfavorable articles on PayPal’s actions in LifeSiteNews and other media outlets, as well as a petition drive that gathered more than 10,000 electronic signatures and offers of legal help from multiple groups defending the rights of Christians, PayPal informed Severo that it would make an “exception” and release the funds.

The company had previously claimed that it would hold the money in the account, which constituted most of needed Severo’s funds, for up to nine months before returning it to him.

PayPal shut down Severo’s account and froze his funds after the organization was petitioned by the homosexualist organization All Out to eliminate ten organizations or individuals from its service, for opposing the homosexual political agenda.

Julio Severo and others were accused of peddling “hate,” although Severo makes it clear that he has no animosity towards homosexuals and wants them to be rescued from the self-destructive homosexual lifestyle. In addition to translating and writing for LifeSiteNews, Severo publishes a blog in Portuguese that is one of Brazil’s best-read, and is followed by politicians and other influential individuals in the country. Severo also has blogs in English and Spanish.

In response to the gay activist complaints, PayPal launched an investigation of the targetted groups. It sought to cut off any that could not prove that they were a legally-constituted charity capable of receiving donations, despite the fact that PayPal permits individuals to receive money without reference to membership in any group.

Also targeted by the campaign have been such groups as Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP), a Catholic group that defends the rights and dignity of Christians and opposes sodomy, and Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, which seeks to inform the public about the facts about the “gay” lifestyle. So far, none of these have been cut off by PayPal.

Although LifeSiteNews sent the petition list to a number of PayPal addresses and informed the company of the signatures, no response was ever received.

Comment by Julio Severo: I didn’t like the mocking tone that the leftist American newspaper used to speak about Malafaia, but the leftist mindset is narrow and it keeps them from seeing reality as it is. The newspaper erroneously compares Malafaia to Pat Robertson, a conservative in times gone by so solid that he even suggested that Hugo Chavez, a friend of Lula and Dilma Rousseff, should be murdered. Although Malafaia has, on the abortion and gay agenda, the same stance as real conservatives do, his political leanings keep him away from a legitimate conservatism, and such fact was recognized in the interview itself when he admitted to have voted for Lula twice and not to have anything personally against Rousseff. If she didn’t support abortion and homosexuality, would everything be ok? Of course not. See, she was formerly a terrorist, and she has never repented of her terrorist past or of her socialist ideology and her connections with Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro. That repugnant socialist aspect doesn’t seem to be an inconvenience to Malafaia. I will continue, as a writer and blogger, to support Malafaia as he attacks the radical abortion and homosexual agenda. But how can we Brazilians follow his disastrous political leanings? It is a pity that he doesn’t have 50% of Michele Bachmann’s political convictions.

Evangelical Leader Rises in Brazil’s Culture Wars

SILAS MALAFAIA’s books, which sell in the millions in Brazil, have titles like “How to Defeat Satan’s Strategies” and “Lessons of a Winner.” The Gulfstream private jet in which he flies has “Favor of God,” in English, inscribed on its body.

As a television evangelist, Mr. Malafaia reaches viewers in dozens of countries, including the United States, where Daystar and Trinity Broadcasting Network broadcast his overdubbed sermons. Over 30 years, Mr. Malafaia, 53, has assembled thriving churches and enterprises around his Pentecostal preaching.

Still, he might have garnered little attention beyond his own followers had he not waded into Brazil’s version of the culture wars. After all, Brazil has evangelical leaders who command larger empires, like Edir Macedo, whose Universal Church of the Kingdom of God controls Rede Record, one of Brazil’s biggest television networks. Others, like Romildo Ribeiro Soares, of the International Church of God’s Grace, are known for greater missionary zeal.

But it is Mr. Malafaia who has recently attracted the most attention, with his pointed verbal attacks on a broad array of foes, including the leaders of Brazil’s movement for gay rights, proponents of abortion rights and supporters of marijuana decriminalization.

“I’m the public enemy No. 1 of the gay movement in Brazil,” Mr. Malafaia said in an interview this month here in Fortaleza, a city in Brazil’s northeast where he came to lead one of his self-described “crusades,” an event mixing scripture and song in front of about 200,000 people. Tears flowed down the faces of some of the impassioned attendees, while others danced to the performances that served as his opening act.

Before ascending to the pulpit, he described how coveted he had become on television talk shows as a sparring partner with gay leaders. But that is only a small part of his repertoire, and television is just one of many media at Mr. Malafaia’s disposal. On Twitter, he has nearly a quarter of a million followers, and in videos distributed on YouTube, he lambastes not only liberal foes but also journalists and rival evangelical leaders.

Not surprisingly, his rising prominence has made him the source of both admiration and unease. He mobilized thousands to march in the capital, Brasília, this year against a bill aimed at expanding anti-discrimination legislation to include sexual orientation.

“He’s like Pat Robertson in the sense of being a pioneer in moving Brazil’s evangelical right into the national political realm,” said Andrew Chesnut, an expert on Latin American religions at Virginia Commonwealth University, comparing Mr. Malafaia to the conservative American television evangelist.

Brazil’s elite is seeking to understand the rise of such a polarizing figure, and how it might influence the nation’s politics. Piauí, a magazine that is the rough equivalent of The New Yorker in the United States, ran a lengthy article this year on Mr. Malafaia’s rise from obscurity in Rio de Janeiro, where he grew up in a military family, to the power he now wields.

BEYOND Mr. Malafaia, the broad expansion of evangelical faiths, particularly Pentecostalism, in recent decades is altering Brazil’s politics. (While Pentecostalism varies widely, its tenets in Brazil include faith healing, prophecy and exorcism.) Leaders in Brasília must now consult on a range of matters with an evangelical caucus of legislators with resilient clout.

About one in four Brazilians are now thought to belong to evangelical Protestant congregations, and Pentecostals like Mr. Malafaia are at the forefront of this growth. In a remarkable religious transformation, scholars say that while Brazil still has the largest number of Roman Catholics in the world, it now also rivals the United States in having one of the largest Pentecostal populations.

Not everyone in Brazil is enthusiastic about this shift.

In a November essay, the journalist Eliane Brum wrote of the intolerance shown toward atheists in Brazil by some adherents of born-again faiths, describing what she called the “ever more aggressive dispute for market share” among big churches.

Ms. Brum’s essay unleashed a wave of reactions from Pentecostals. Mr. Malafaia’s words were among the most caustic.

During the interview here, he called Ms. Brum a “tramp,” and repeated his contention that “communist atheists” in the former Soviet Union, Cambodia and Vietnam were responsible for more killings than “any war produced for religious questions.”

Whether by design or default, his aggressive language has often become a spectacle. In November, Época magazine reported that Mr. Malafaia, during heated comments about taking legal action against Toni Reis, a prominent gay-rights advocate, said he would “fornicate” Mr. Reis.

Mr. Malafaia fired off an explanation that he had actually said he would “funicate” Mr. Reis. While researchers were unable to find Mr. Malafaia’s word in reference dictionaries, he said it was slang that roughly translated as “trounce.”

The visibility Mr. Malafaia achieves from such episodes has fueled questions about his political ambitions. He said he had no desire to run for office because it could make him beholden to a specific political party, thus curbing the broader visibility he now has.

“God called on me to be a pastor,” he said, “and I won’t exchange that for being a politician.”

But political influence is another matter. Mr. Malafaia said he voted twice for Brazil’s former president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and for years enjoyed access to Brasília’s corridors of power. But he also related an anecdote about Mr. da Silva’s successor, President Dilma Rousseff, that suggests how important evangelical figures are becoming in national elections.

He said she spoke with him by telephone for 15 minutes during last year’s presidential campaign, trying to lure his support. But he said he refused because of ideological differences with parts of the governing Workers Party of Mr. da Silva, a former labor leader, and Ms. Rousseff, a former operative in an urban guerrilla group.

“I told her, ‘I don’t have anything personal against you. I think you’re an intelligent, qualified woman,’ ” he said. “ ‘But how can I vote for you if I spent four years fighting with the group from your party supporting a bill to benefit gays, thus hurting me?’”

MR. MALAFAIA, while stabbing the air with fingers adorned with diamond-encrusted gold rings, delivers such tales in booming Portuguese with a thick Rio accent.

His persona has given him almost rock-star status among some supporters.

“I didn’t recognize him without his mustache,” said Erineide Mendonça, 39, an employee at the Fortaleza hotel where Mr. Malafaia was staying, referring to the trademark facial hair that he shaved not long ago. “But I recognized his voice,” she said, asking to be photographed with the evangelist she adores.

Both Mr. Malafaia and his wife, Elizete, were trained as psychologists, and when he rises to the pulpit, his voice echoes in sermons laden with lessons of self-help and perseverance.

A favorite theme involves success and how to attain it. While he contends that he still lives relatively humbly and is not even a millionaire, he makes no apologies for his own material rise. In fact, he celebrates it, touting, for instance, his Mercedes-Benz — a gift, he explains, from a prosperous friend.

Then there is the Gulfstream, acquired secondhand in the United States, he said, not by him but by his nonprofit religious organization at a reasonable price.

“The pope flies in a jumbo jet,” he said, referring to the chartered Alitalia plane that carries the bishop of Rome, and chafing at what he viewed as a double standard with which Brazil’s ascendant evangelical leaders must contend. “But if a pastor travels in any old jet, he’s considered a thief.”

A homosexual from Saudi Arabia had his asylum request denied by the Obama administration.

The Jerusalem Post reported that Ali Ahmad Asseri “argued that if he returned to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia he would face execution because the country’s radically fundamental form of Islam mandates the death penalty for same-sex relations.”

Reportedly, the Obama administration denied the asylum to “avoid disrupting US-Saudi relations”. Annoying wasps is less dangerous than annoying a Muslim nation!

Is not the Obama administration the most radically pro-sodomy government in the US and world history? Has not the US government under this pro-Muslim president committed itself to fight “homophobia” whenever and wherever it appears?

To grant asylum to Asseri would show to the Muslim world that the Obama administration is serious about its world policies equaling sodomy to human rights.

Contrary to many asylum seekers, Asseri did not lie: Saudi Arabia really executes homosexuals. Poor Asseri! To tell truth did not help him.

In contrast, Brazilian homosexual Augusto Pereira de Souza, 27, had no such hardship to be granted asylum by the Obama administration. Enough for him was to allege that “Brazil is one of the most violent countries against homosexuals”. Nothing else than falsehood was necessary to get him asylum.

In spite of Pereira’s charges against Brazil as a threat to gays, Asseri could freely and safely live in Brazil. In fact, his troubles to get US asylum have been reported by a Saudi-American blogger and journalist based in Brazil, the “homophobic” country. In Saudi Arabia, Asseri and the journalist defending him would be treated very differently than the Brazilian government and society would do.

On the other hand, Souza is free to criticize and enter Brazil. As in the US, in Brazil media and government agencies are brazenly pro-sodomy and criticism against Christians and their “homophobia” is widespread and most welcome — as long as such criticism is directed exclusively to Christians, never to Muslims. What Souza cannot do is to criticize and enter Saudi Arabia. To enter there would spell his doom. At least, it would change his mind about “Brazil as one of the most violent countries against homosexuals”.

If Saudi Arabia were as Christian as Uganda is, it would be easier for the US to charge it of “homophobia” and grant asylum to the Saudi gay. Christians are always fair game for dishonest charges. But the US cannot afford giving similar treatment to Saudi Arabia, which is so radically against sodomy as the US is radically for it.

Stuart Appelbaum, a prominent gay activist in New York, said that if the Obama administration refuses to grant asylum to Ali Ahmad Asseri because it is afraid of the Saudi reaction, then the US will become complicit in his fate. “It is exactly because of how Ahmad might be treated on his return to his homophobic and brutal land that the United States should grant him refuge,” he said.

As far as Saudi Arabia and its Islamic law are concerned, the Obama administration will never sacrifice its economic interests with Muslim nations to defend sodomy as a human right. This is why it finds safer to grant asylum to a lying Brazilian homosexual than to a truthful Saudi homosexual. Between defending a perverted sexual act and not offending Muslim allies, the latter is priority diplomatic safe sex for a US radically committed to protect the former.

When homosexuality hits its international relations with Muslim nations, the US government commitment is not to annoy its gay-executing, Muslim allies.

A few weeks ago, PayPal cut off service to Julio Severo because Julio says on his blog that he agrees with the New Testament on homosexual behavior. They did this at the behest of a homosexual activist group.

Effectively, PayPal, as the only service of its kind, unilaterally decided to try and ban Julio’s blog, which has played a key role in stopping utterly totalitarian-style legislation in Brazil that would have banned speech perceived as offensive to homosexuals. Since PayPal is effectively a monopoly, they have threatened Julio’s livelihood in objection to his faith, which they want to see banned everywhere in the world.

PayPal is therefore what I call a NGE, or Non-Governmental Enforcer, of an unconstitutional speech code, circumventing the law by using methods that would be politically impossible for government to use.

And yet you will note that government has been glaringly silent and will do nothing to help Julio barring a lawsuit. And it is far from clear whether our leftist-packed judiciary will do anything to intervene on behalf of freedom of speech.

Now, not much fuss was made over Julio’s plight outside Christian activist circles, apparently because religious freedom is now being supplanted in Western minds by sexual freedom, a favorite platform of libertarians.

Yet, I have tried to warn that when you allow government (or its proxy) to tell Christians they may not speak out against what they perceive as evil, the totalitarian system will soon direct its fury against you, even if the government per se is not directly involved in this assault. Because you see, the far left (as exemplified by the Fabian Society, which has lost no time in stealthily removing your freedom since the 1880s) has always used stealth tactics to enforce laws, even laws not yet on the books. They believe they are on the side of History, and I write that with a cap because for them history is God.

Now, the West has gradually accepted the mindset that religion is nothing but a throwback and has no place in public life. In fact, they portray Christianity as a sinister system designed to enslave people. Yet when large corporations in league with corrupt government (crony capitalism) overtly take steps to eradicate Christian speech in public, then those liberty-minded individuals who generally ignore the plight of Christians, also considering us to be knuckle dragging Neanderthals, are unwittingly cutting their own throats, because if groups of bullies can tell Christians to shut up with impunity, then they can tell you to shut up as well. It is only a matter of time.

A few scant weeks have passed since PayPal censored Christian blogger Julio Severo and now, those who sat silently by are seeing the censors moving into their own territory. For libertarians generally believe that any censorship is bad and cuts into liberty. Yet, as suggested above, they foolishly look away when Christians are censored, particularly Christians who flout the Ruling Class purportedly on the “side of history.” What they fail to see is that the censorship of Christian speech is a harbinger of much bigger things to come. Because the Ruling Class despises Judeo-Christian values (as exemplified by their behavior in Europe where they import Christian-hating Muslims by the millions, and in the Muslim World, where each war they engage in invariably has the outcome of Christian persecution and decimation of the indigenous Christian populations).

This lack of compassion for Christian speech on the part of the “freedom minded,” including numerous nominal Christians, is a bad sign, my friend. You didn’t speak out for Julio because you bought into the left’s propaganda that only homosexuals can be victims, never Christians. The far left in league with the New World Order taught you that Christianity is the enemy of freedom and compassion, when in fact it represents the only real freedom and compassion one can ever hope to have.

Government agencies easily take children from their parents, and easily expose them to pedophiles

A new California state audit found that over 1,000 sex offenders are living in homes licensed to provide foster and child care services.

The startling information was uncovered after the audit was requested to investigate how Child Welfare Services handled child deaths in foster care homes.

Earlier this year, Assemblyman Henry Perea of Fresno requested the state investigate child deaths that are in Child Protective Service custody. The request was made after 10-year-old Seth Ireland was beaten to death by his mother’s boyfriend in 2008.

National Center for Youth Law senior attorney Bill Grimm thinks the failure of Child Welfare Services to use databases of sex offenders that the agency had access to is “reprehensible and inexcusable.”

“How can you take a child out of their own home, their parents home, because you alleged they are unsafe or have been abused and then put them in a facility or a home where they are subject to risk and further abuse? It’s just inexcusable,” Grimm said.

Hey, only California was found to have 1,000 sex offenders living in homes licensed to provide foster and child care services. What about the other 49 American states?

We are living in the 21st century, are not we? How can state children services be exposing children to pedophiles?

In the 1980s, my friend Mary Pride denounced how dangerous the government services were for children. In that time, sure, the State promised to take measures to make children safe from its own unsafety.

Then in the 1990s, Brenda Scott, in her book “Out of Control. Who’s Watching Our Child Protection Agencies?”, exposed how easily Children Protective Services took children from their parents and exposed them to sex offenders and other perverts. Again, the State promised to correct its unsafety…

Next, in 2005 we had reports of abundant sex abuse against children in homes licensed to provide foster and child care services. And the State came with its usual promises… And children continued unsafe.

Sadly, the State has been unable to avoid exposing children to sex offenders. And it has been equally unable to avoid easily taking children from their parents.

A Hawaii couple’s 3-year-old daughter was taken away from them for 18 hours after they were arrested for forgetting to a pay for two $5 sandwiches.

The outing-turned-nightmare happened Wednesday while the family was shopping at a local Safeway.

“We walked a long way to the grocery store and I was feeling faint, dizzy, like I needed to eat something so we decided to pick up some sandwiches and eat them while we were shopping,” Leszczynski told the news station.

Leszczynski, who is 30-weeks pregnant, her husband, Marcin, and daughter Zophia bought $50 worth of groceries — but forgot about their two chicken salad sandwiches.

“It was a complete distraction, distracted parent moment,” Leszczynski told KHON.

As the family left, they were stopped by store security, who asked for their receipt.

“I offered to pay, we had the cash. We just bought the groceries,” Leszczynski told the station.

Instead, the expectant mother told KHON that the Safeway manager called police. They were taken to the main Honolulu police station where they were booked for fourth degree theft. Then Zophia was taken into custody by Child Protective Services.

“When they notified us that they would have to take her because we both would be arrested, I just couldn’t believe it, couldn’t believe this was happening, because I forgot to pay for the sandwich and that she’s never been away from us this long,” Leszczynski told KHON.

Zophia’s mom said she spent a sleepless night worrying about her daughter and shared the ordeal on the parenting website www.babycenter.com. Her post grabbed the attention of hundreds of outraged moms and dads.

“We didn’t know where our daughter was, didn’t know what the situation was, she didn’t have any clothes they just took her right from the grocery store,” Leszczynski told KOHN.

Fortunately, the young girl was returned 18 hours later to her parents. But 18 hours, or some days away from their parents in a state agency, it’s time enough for pedophiles and other predators make their dirty work. In a sex-obsessed society, children are unsafe whenever they are away from their natural family.

October 27, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Brazil’s highest appeals court for non-constitutional issues, the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (STJ), has approved the “marriage” of two lesbians in a 4-1 vote.

The couple, who had been living together for five years in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, will be permitted to civilly “marry” based on an earlier decision of the Supreme Federal Tribunal (STF), the nation’s highest court for constitutional issues.

The STF ruled in May that homosexual couples can enter into civil unions, despite the Constitution’s explicit restriction of civil unions to “a man and a woman.”

The Supreme Tribunal of Justice has now ruled that, given that the Constitution “facilitates the conversion of a stable union into marriage,” it must conclude that “sexual orientation cannot serve as a pretext to exclude families from the juridical protection represented by marriage.”

Although the decision is not binding in other cases, it will have profound legal repercussions in Brazil, according to Luiz Mello, coordinator of the Study and Research Group on Gender and Sexuality at the Federal University of Goiás.

“It isn’t a decision with binding effect, but it creates an important precedent,” said Mello. “Now, all of the registry offices and state courts that are thinking about denying this right must remember that the STJ has decided in favor of it.”

The STJ’s decision faces overwhelming opposition against both civil unions and “marriage” for homosexuals from the Brazilian public.

As LifeSiteNews reported in August a recent poll has indicated that Brazilians reject the STF decision permitting civil unions by 55 to 45 percent. A poll in late 2010 found that 60 percent opposed civil unions and only 35 were in favor.

Triumph of the state over the family: Brazilian Congress reinforces ban on homeschooling

The Education and Culture Committee of the Chamber of Representatives in Brazil has unanimously rejected, October 19, a bill that would have authorized, under state supervision, parents to homeschool their children. The homeschool bill had been introduced in 2008 by Evangelical representative Henrique Afonso and Catholic Representative Miguel Martini.

In their rejection, the committee expressed its view that homeschooling “disrespects the Constitution, the Penal Code, the National Education Guidelines and Basic Law and the Child and Adolescent Statute.”

However, home education was not, in the past, a strange experience in Brazil. The constitutions of Brazil had protection and respect for the parents’ primary role in the children’s education, without removing from them their right to choose where and how to educate.

The Brazilian Constitution of 1937 said,

Article 125: The integral education of the children is the most important duty and natural right of parents. The State will get involved in that duty, collaborating, in a main or subsidiary way, to facilitate its implementation or supply the deficiencies and gaps in the private education.

That constitution recognized the function of the State as an assistant to parents in their educational choices for their children, instead of trying to substitute them or usurp their right to choose.

The Brazilian Constitution of 1946 said,

Article 166: The education is a right of all and it will be given at home and in the school. It should be inspired by the principles of freedom and in the ideals of human solidarity.

Dr. Rodrigo Pedroso, a Brazilian jurist, comments: “This confirms that the article 166 of the Constitution of that time was interpreted as allowing the education in the school or exclusively at home. Therefore, home education is, strictly speaking, a Brazilian juridical tradition that, for some unknown reason, was abandoned without anyone expressing a protest in the National Assembly that drafted the new constitution in 1987”.

The National Education Guidelines and Basic Law, in its Article 30 of December 20, 1961, said,

“A married man with children or a guardian cannot work public office, nor occupy employment in a company of society of mixed economy or a company concessionary of public service if he has presented no proof that his child is enrolled in a school, or that his child is being supplied home education”.

Yet, Brazilian socialist government officials were able to repeal this article in the 1990s.

The Brazilian Constitution of 1967 said,

Article 168: The education is a right of all and it will be given at home and in the school; being guaranteed opportunity-equality, the education should be inspired on the principle of the national unit and on the ideals of freedom and human solidarity.

So it is very clear that the Brazilian constitutions before the Constitution of 1988 guaranteed freedom for the parents to choose home education or institutional school. The Constitution of 1988 came, allegedly, as a better, more democratic document, but only later Brazilians woke up for the fact that that their modern constitution, drafted with the help of many leftist parliamentarians, instead of expanding the parents’ rights, quietly turned off the home education option. Parents’ right and freedom were usurped by an assumed “right” and “obligation” of the State. The State literally swallowed the rights of the families.

Other serious threat to the families’ rights in the education of their children has been the Child and Adolescent Statute (CAS), which is a direct product of the United Nations Children’s Rights Convention. CAS imposes many state interferences in the Brazilian families and their children, especially in the educational and health issues. CAS has been used by the Child Protective Services of Brazil to enforce the state ban on homeschooling, harass families and their children and put them under legal hardships.

Although homeschooling is common in many developed countries and is associated with higher levels of academic achievement, the increasingly-intrusive and socialist government in Brazil has not only abolished its constitutional tradition of home education, but has also repealed several homeschool bills in the Brazilian Congress since the 1990s.

Control over people requires quality and freedom to be discarded and sacrificed on behalf of compulsory indoctrination. For a State possessed by socialism, it does not matter if schoolchildren are not learning to read and write satisfactorily. What matters is to turn away children from parental sphere, authority and values in order to indoctrinate them directly into the state interests.

This indoctrination is a proven reality throughout Brazil. In a long story on the Brazilian schools, Veja magazine (the Brazilian counterpart of Time magazine) made the following revelations:

* A prevalent trend among Brazilian teachers of imposing leftism in the minds of children.

* Leftist indoctrination is predominant in private schools. It is something teachers take more seriously than classroom subjects, as a CNT/Sensus poll, ordered by Veja, found.

* It is embarrassing that Marxism has stayed alive only in Cuba, North Korea and in the Brazilian classrooms.

* CNT/Sensus poll interviewed 3,000 people from 24 Brazilian states, among students and teachers in public and private schools. Its conclusion in this issue was astonishing. Parents (61%) are aware that teachers make political discourses in the classroom and they find it normal. Most teachers recognize that they really indoctrinate children and they think this is their main mission — something more important than teaching how to interpret a text or excel in math. For 78% of teachers, political discourse makes sense, considering that they ascribe to school, above all, the function of “forming citizens” — above of “teaching subjects”.

* Many Brazilian teachers are fascinated by characters that in the classroom deserve a more critical approach, as the Argentinian guerilla Che Guevara, who in the poll appears with 86% of positive mentions, 14% neutral, and no negative comment.

This reality of Brazilian schools is in perfect harmony with the government policies, whose interest is not quality and freedom, but exclusively state control over children. This reality makes Brazil to look more like communist China, where four-year-old children are obliged to attend school just to receive state indoctrination. In fact, according to Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, Brazil and China announced the “the creation of a quinquennial plan of targets, as the plans adopted by the Chinese communist government, to create a joint education model”.

Homeschool is illegal, according to the latest Brazilian Constitution and the Brazilian legal version of the United Nations Children’s Rights Convention, but it is not illegal to amend the Constitution for less honorable, state purposes. In its last days, the socialist Lula administration was able to change the Constitution to give 4-year-old children the “right to attend school”, which in China and Brazil means to force parents to deliver their 4-year-old children to the State for “education”.

The few homeschool families in Brazil in public legal battles have been put under educational surveillance and strict tests tailored to make their children fail. Even so, they have incredibly reached high scores. One wonders what the institutionalized schoolchildren would do if submitted to such harshness. But they are spared this shame, receiving graciously tests tailored to make any student easily successful. But even with such state condescension, success is hard for them to grasp.

On international tests, Brazilian students have been found to produce extremely low scores.

The 2007 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), which compares student performance in 57 countries, gave Brazil well below-average scores in mathematics, reading, and science.

Domestically, more than 50% Brazilian students in the third year of the elementary school are unable to read the minimum required for math.

The rejected homeschool bill could have been an alternative to the educational chaos in Brazil. In 2005, I helped Dr. Paulo Fernando de Mello, a legislative consultant, to draft this federal homeschool bill. In that time, I was able to introduce in the bill the fundamental recommendations Dr. Brian Ray, the director of NHERI, had sent me. But I had always feared that if approved, the socialist government in Brazil would impose so much austerity, surveillance and intrusiveness that the Brazilian homeschool law eventually would turn home education into a state education at home!

So if approved, we parents would have very little to celebrate. If rejected, we would be “free” to remain illegal, ostracized, Catacomb-homeschoolers!

Now, we have only two choices: homeschool illegally and suffer the massive and violent state intervention in our parental, natural choice, or let our children suffer social, moral, psychological and spiritual violence in the public educational “jails”.

Physical and moral violence and functional illiteracy are rampant in the state education in Brazil. If homeschooling were commonplace in Brazil and produced the same results the state-controlled education has produced for years, it would deserve a complete ban and prosecution and punishment for the culprits.

Public schools make children abandon their intellectual potential. Even so, if a family homeschool their children, government officials in Brazil have a prepared legal charge: intellectual abandonment. Legally in Brazil, intellectual abandonment is not to keep children from education, but keep them from attending school institutions.

International tests have repeatedly proved the failure of the Brazilian public schools, but the government does not have the nerve to charge them of “intellectual abandonment”, under the risk of condemning itself.

If to force the presence of a child in a public school might make her educated, to force her to remain in a garage would turn her into a car!

In the Brazilian public schools, children can be whatever the State decides, not what their parents want. So, for the exclusive benefit of the state interests, the ban on homeschooling in Brazil has now been unanimously reinforced by the Brazilian Congress.

Well, this was mentioned in a previous post, but the leaves have all been shaken out now and the word is in: Catholic Charities in Illinois is persona non grata, as the state can now refuse to renew its foster care and adoption contracts with them because Catholic Charities refuses to abuse children by placing them with homophile couples. That’s it, refuse to sanction homosexual unions and you get eliminated from providing needed services for children. Homosexuality reigns supreme over personal rights.

Frank Turek has been fired from another job because he had the audacity to write a book exposing the fraudulent nature of same-sex faux marriage and how it hurts everyone. It doesn’t matter that the views expressed in his book were never mentioned in relation to his work, and do not affect his work; all that matters is that Turek violated political-correctness by saying same-sex faux marriage hurts everyone. How ironic that he is hurt by being fired a second time for expressing his views. And yet they still lie and say same-sex faux marriage hurts no one!!!!!!

I previously mentioned the complaint against a bed & breakfast in Illinois, who wouldn’t host a same-sex union ceremony. Now, these two deviants are going to sue. Wait — don’t they claim same-sex faux marriage won’t hurt anyone? Yet here is another business being harmed for not wanting to sanction such perversion.

Homosexualists have decided to attack people in other ways; cut off access to financial transactions if you speak against their perverse sexual behavior. So they have been pressuring PayPal to stop allowing use of their services by those who speak against same-sex faux marriage. Now remember, same-sex faux marriage won’t hurt anyone! PayPal has now denied service to “famed Brazilian pro-life and pro-family Christian activist Julio Severo.” He maintains a very influential blog in Brazil, but he had the audacity to say homosexuality is a sin. Now PayPal won’t even release his funds for at least 180 days!!! Several other people have likewise been targeted by PayPal at the demands of homosexualists. So just who is the “hate” group?

Meanwhile, a high school student was suspended for having the audacity to tell someone that he believed homosexuality is wrong. In school! It seems the teacher just happened to be a homophile who is always pushing his agenda in class, but that’s okay. What isn’t okay is to say that homosexual behavior is wrong.

Oh, and the homosexualists always demand tolerance, but they don’t ever practice what they preach. An apostate United Methodist Church in Ohio posted a billboard along the highway which said, “Being Gay is a Gift from God.” So a local mega-church pastor decided to fight fire with fire and purchased nine billboards which say, “Being Gay is NOT a gift from God. — Forgiveness, Love & Eternal Life are.” The intolerant homosexualists have held demonstrations and launched a petition drive to have the opposing viewpoint billboards removed. Not only that, the mega-church has also been receiving hate mail. How dare an opposing viewpoint be allowed!!!!

Yesterday, when I came from grocery, I was surprised: my email account was totally blocked. Immediately, I delivered myself and my ministry into God’s hands.

In few minutes, I began to receive calls from friends warning that my blog had been shut down. When I entered my blog to verify, I came across this message: “This blog was removed. We are sorry, blog lastdayswatchman.blogspot.com was removed.”

Immediately, I tried to make contact with Google to unblock my email account and my blog, and Google gave me this message: “Account has been disabled. If you've been redirected to this page from the sign-in page, it means that access to your Google Account has been disabled. In most cases, accounts are disabled because of a perceived violation of either the Google Terms of Service…”

With no notice, Google removed my English, Portuguese, Spanish, German and homeschool blogs on October 4, 2011.

The pressure from internet users was fast, with many spreading and complaining. After two hours of shutdown and with no notice, Google restored my blogs and accounts.

What is happening? I do not know. Also, the automatic system of email subscription of my blog and its feed seem under blockage in the last 10 days.

In 2007, under pressure from a systematic hate campaign by gay activists, Blog Julio Severo was shut down by Google. When a state attorney in Brasília called Google asking the reason for the shutdown, the Google lawyer answered that many had contacted it denouncing that Blog Julio Severo promotes hate and violence. Then the attorney explained calmly that he read daily my blog, having never met any incitement to hate and violence.

Besides, prominent Brazilian philosopher Olavo de Carvalho, in his column in the newspaper Jornal do Brasil, denounced the censorship against Blog Julio Severo. After this mobilization which included many other people that called Google, Blog Julio Severo was released from censorship.

September 29, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) — Homosexualist websites are boasting of victory in an ongoing campaign to induce PayPal, one of the world’s largest payment processing companies, to eliminate pro-family Christians from its service.

The homosexual magazine “On Top” reports that PayPal has eliminated Coral Ridge Ministries from its service, as well as LifeSiteNews translator and eminent Brazilian pro-family blogger Julio Severo.

Severo’s account has also been frozen by PayPal, which says it will not give him access to the funds left in the account for half a year.

The homosexualist organization “All Out,” which is spearheading the campaign with a petition drive, boasts that “Our pressure is working - PayPal already dropped several extremist sites! Lets keep up the pressure so PayPal knows we won’t give up until they drop all extremist sites!”

The All Out petition asks PayPal to eliminate service to Christian groups that oppose the homosexual lifestyle and political agenda, claiming the groups preached “hate” and are “extremist.”

The list of groups denounced by All Out mixes mainstream pro-family organizations such as Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP), and Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH), with the extremist Dove World Outreach Center, which provoked violence in Muslim countries after threatening to publicly burn the Koran.

Following the initiation of All Out’s campaign, LifeSiteNews began its own petition drive to ask PayPal not to discriminate against pro-family Christians for expressing their religious and moral principles.

Although the petition has gathered more than 7,400 signatures, PayPal continues to stonewall all attempts to deliver the signatures and to ask questions about its policies, which appear to favor homosexual activists over Christians.

Petition against PayPal discrimination reaches 7,400 signatures — PayPal stonewalls

September 28, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) — Despite the fact that more than 7,400 people have signed a petition asking PayPal not to succumb to pressure by homosexual activists, who are urging the company to eliminate Christian activists from its service, so far PayPal has issued no response.

Meanwhile, homosexualist groups are boasting that the campaign has brought about the elimination of pro-family Coral Ridge Ministries from PayPal’s service, as well as LifeSiteNews translator and pro-family blogger Julio Severo.

In addition to being cut off from the service, Severo has also been informed that the funds in his PayPal account have been frozen for half a year, after which the company says it will inform him of how to withdraw the funds.

LifeSiteNews began to gather the signatures in mid-September after the homosexualist organization All Out began a petition to ask PayPal to revoke the accounts of Christian groups and individuals that oppose the homosexual lifestyle and political agenda, claiming the groups preached “hate” and are “extremist.”

The list includes mainstream pro-family organizations such as Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP), and Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) under the same rubric as the extremist Dove World Outreach Center, which recently provoked violence in Muslim countries after threatening to publicly burn the Koran.

LifeSiteNews has tried to reach PayPal via an email address provided by the company, and has called customer service.

PayPal’s email response has been to insist only on interacting with PayPal account holders with a complaint about their own accounts. The organization claims it cannot open the spreadsheet attachment containing the signatures on the petition. It also continues to claim that Severo is an unregistered “organization” to justify cutting him off from the service.

A call to customer service resulted in LifeSiteNews being provided with a phone number to call for Paypal’s public relations department, which failed to return a message left on voice mail.

LifeSiteNews has sent emails to two PayPal addresses published on the internet by a prominent anti-PayPal site that claims they correspond to PayPal President Scott Thompson and Accounts Protection Senior Director Mike Vergara. No response has been received.

FBI suspected of intimidation tactic

Explanation of 'warning' about hate-speech investigation sought

A high-profile research and educational institute that includes some of the top thinkers, human rights leaders and activists in the Western hemisphere is asking the FBI to reveal whether there have been "hate speech" allegations and an investigation launched against one of its prominent fellows.

The request is coming from officials with The Inter-American Institute for Philosophy, Government and Social Thought.

Fellows there include Justice Tom Parker of the Alabama Supreme Court; former Honduran President Roberto Micheletti; Prof. Herbert Titus and Dr. Edwin Vieira, both nationally known constitutional scholars, litigators and authors, Dr. Judith Reisman, author of "Sexual Sabotage," known internationally for exposing the sex crimes and fraudulent sex research of Alfred Kinsey, a godfather of the sexual revolution, MovieGuide publisher Dr. Ted Baehr, Prof. Paul Gottfried, historian, political philosopher and prolific author on contemporary politics, Alejandro Pena-Esclusa, a leading opponent of Hugo Chavez, recently released from jail on house arrest, Col. Alfonso Plazas Vega, a leading figure in the fight against Marxist guerrillas in the illegal drug trade in the Western Hemisphere and others.

Olavo de Carvalho

The president of the institute is Olavo de Carvalho, a Brazilian philosopher and writer who is in the U.S. after having taught political philosophy at the Catholic University of Paraná, Brazil, until 2005.

It is against de Carvalho that the allegations and claim of a visit by FBI agents have been raised, according to John Haskins, Senior Fellow for the PublicUnderstanding of Law, Propaganda and Cultural Revolution, speaking for the institute.

Professor deCarvalho has written a dozen books on philosophical and political matters, is a respected weekly columnist with a wide following in his native Brazil and an increasingly popular public speaker in this country. His latest outreach is an online radio show.

According to his biography at the institute, the keynote of his work is the defense of man's innermost consciousness against the tyranny of collective authority – especially when such tyranny is based upon a "scientific" ideology.

"To Olavo de Carvalho the objectivity of knowledge and individual consciousness are joined together by an undissolvable link, of which one loses sight when the criteria for validation of knowledge are reduced to an impersonal and uniform set of formulae designed to be used by the academic class."

The institute was informed a onetime adviser to de Carvalho, whose name was withheld, had spoken of a visit from two FBI agents who told her that de Carvalho was under investigation for propagating "hate speech" against homosexuals and abortion advocates.

Haskins confirmed that de Carvalho called FBI headquarters, and was referred to the Miami office, where an agent suggested the organization may have been victimized by impersonators.

Another agent then added that without the names of the "impersonators," nothing could be done. But the "agents" had not left any business cards, de Carvalho confirmed.

Haskins said that the organization also is sending a written request.

He noted de Carvalho never has written on those topics in English, and never anything that could be considered "hate," raising the question of whether such intimidation, whatever it's source, might actually be aimed at the Institute generally, for a plethora of reasons.

Other Fellows have written in English on abortion as well as the militant homosexual movement's encroaching threats to freedom of speech, religion, association and parents' rights. At least four Fellows also have written in national media or delivered lectures challenging Barak Obama's lawful occupancy of the White House based on the Constitution's natural born citizenship requirement.

Also, the institute has contacts with Julio Severo, the Brazilian journalist whose international exposes of militant excesses and oppression of dissent by the homosexual movement somehow put his website under apparent surveillance by Homeland Security Department personnel, though Severo does not live in the U.S. under their jurisdiction.

Haskins said "a few minutes spent at our Fellows page reveals that the Institute is unique among think tanks and educational institutions outside the stream of politically correctness in that it has gathered persons of high rank who are viscerally hated by the left in multiple countries and who can testify to a high degree of international coordination in measures to silence or even imprison them. This situation makes it very difficult to be sure who might be doing whose bidding if the FBI is actually attempting to intimidate one or more of us."

Haskins explained that de Carvalho, whom the U.S. government itself admitted to live and work in the U.S. under exceptional circumstances as a "Foreigner With Special Abilities," nevertheless, could be targeted with special punishments, such as objections to his status as a resident in the U.S.

Haskins described the scenario under which the report of an alleged FBI visit came to the Institute as "bizarre,"and the warning was that de Carvalho back off on his advocacy. Prof. de Carvalho was sued by the then-sitting president of Brazil, and fled that nation to the United States after years of death threats from the left.

The FBI headquarters told WND it knew nothing of the alleged incident, although something could have been arranged by local agency offices, but that raised for Haskins the prospect of a rogue FBI team on the loose.

He said the strategy is to make public the information about the warning and its target.

The issue of "hate" and "hate speech" has been a hot-button topic in the United States since just before Barack Obama's election in 2008. It was pushed onto the front page mostly by homosexual organizations and activists who started condemning those who disagreed with them as perpetrators of "hate."

In fact, they were the primary force behind the so-called federal "hate crimes" law signed by Obama shortly after he became president. It essentially criminalizes thought in the United States by raising the penalties for certain offenses if there was "hate" against the victim.

Attorney General Eric Holder had some revealing comments about the plan, when he was being questioned about it in a congressional hearing.

When asked by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., about a situation in which a homosexual attacked a minister after the minister preached about his religious beliefs and the Bible's perspective on homosexuality, would the "hate crimes" law protect the minister?

No, said Holder.

"The statute would not – would not necessarily cover that. We're talking about crimes that have a historic basis. Groups who have been targeted for violence as a result of the color of their skin, their sexual orientation, that is what this statute tends – is designed to cover."

Of an attack by a homosexual on a minister because of the Bible's teaching?

"We don't have the indication that the attack was motivated by a person's desire to strike at somebody who was in one of these protected groups. That would not be covered by the statute," Holder stated.

WND columnist, and former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, later observed that those who have other standards by which they live also have been described as "haters."

He cited those who argue that the nation's immigration laws should be enforced.

"Without any doubt, the three most prominent and respected immigration-reduction organizations are the Federation for American Immigration Reform, Numbers USA, and the Center for Immigration Studies," he wrote.

But he noted that the Southern Poverty Law Center, a left-leaning organization that repeatedly has launched attacks on conservative and constitution-oriented groups, "calls FAIR a hate group. While the latter two are not listed as 'hate groups,' the SPLC calls them part of the 'nativist lobby' and says they all have racial motivations behind their opposition to mass immigration. The SPLC even calls Progressives for Immigration Reform, an organization led by a liberal African-American, a 'front group' with 'ties to white nationalists,' whatever that means."

It doesn't end there either. Obama, after having created a "flag" website during the 2008 campaign where people were asked to monitor the speech and opinions of their friends and neighbors and report them, now has launched an AttackWatch site for the 2012 campaign, with similar goals.

Liberal members of Congress repeatedly have attacked as "racist" or "haters" those who lobby for the U.S. government to be returned to the limited form of organization that the founders envisioned.

Christian organizations also have been targeted in investigations by companies such as PayPal for there alleged "hate" when they espouse biblical precepts.

The ThomasMore Law Center challenged the federal "hate crimes" law in court, and Robert Muise, the senior trial counsel, said, "This new federal law promotes two Orwellian concepts. First, it creates a special class of persons who are 'more equal than others' based on nothing more than deviant, sexual behavior. And secondly, it creates 'thought crimes 'by criminalizing certain ideas, beliefs, and opinions, and the involvement of such ideas, beliefs, and opinions in a crime will make it deserving of federal prosecution. Consequently, government officials are claiming the power to decide which thoughts are criminal under federal law and which are not."

The law center revealed that all 50 states already have criminal laws punishing violence against others, Holder himself admitted there is no evidence "hate crimes" were unpunished at the state level, and in 2008, of the 1.38 million violent crimes reported, 243 dealt with the victim's sexual orientation.

The Hate Crimes Act was dubbed by its critics as the "Pedophile Protection Act" after an amendment to explicitly prohibit pedophiles from being protected by the act was defeated by majority Democrats. In fact, during congressional debate, supporters argued that all "philias," or alternative sexual lifestyles, should be protected.

Obama signed the "Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act" in October 2009 after Democrats strategically attached it to a "must-pass" $680 billion defense-appropriations bill.

The law cracks down on any acts that could be linked to criticism of homosexuality or even the "perception" of homosexuality. As Congress debated it, there were assurances it would not be used to crack down on speech.

The bill signed by Obama was opposed by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, which called it a "menace" to civil liberties. The commission argued the law allows federal authorities to bring charges against individuals even if they've already been cleared in a state court.

Gay hackers attack pro-family petition in defense of Julio Severo and other Christians

A pro-family petition website to support me and other Christians has been hacked today.

Attack by hackers on Sunday, September 25

The petition was created by LifeSiteNews in response to a massive campaign by homo-fascist group AllOut, which boasts more than 500,000 adherents.

The campaign of AllOut pressured PayPal to block services to me and pro-family groups. PayPal readily yielded, firstly blocking my account, effectively hindering me from receiving voluntary donations from friends.

Now, to make sure that a positive pro-family campaign may pressure PayPal in the right direction, gay hackers attacked the pro-family petition website.

Apparently, other people that want help are under attack too. Don Hank, who runs the Laigle’s Forum website, has had his premium MSN email account blocked after distributing messages about PayPal and its unfair choice of participating in the AllOut attack against me.

Also, well-funded AllOut has been actively collecting signatures for its petition to pressure the Brazilian Congress to pass anti-“homophobia” bills. Probably, AllOut is working in partnership with its Brazilian counterparts, which informed it about me and my activities against the gay agenda, including my book “The Homosexual Movement” in Portuguese, published originally by the Brazilian branch of Bethany House Publishers and now freely available as an e-book in Portuguese here.

For almost ten years, homosexual activists have been actively hacking websites that publish articles by me. Websites that defend me are also attacked.

All I can think is that prophetic voices pay a high cost. Ask John the Baptist. Or ask the two witnesses in Revelation 11. All of them were persecuted for their prophetic calling, and all of them were blessed by Jesus’ words:

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:10-12 ESV)

PayPal blacklists Christian writer

Online activist told friends must find another way to support his ministry

“Relax,” says a PayPal website. “Pay friends & family in seconds with PayPal.” After all, it’s the “easy way to send money in seconds.” No checks, no ATMs, no envelopes and stamps, just click the button on your computer.

That is, of course, unless you and your friends teach the biblical perspective that homosexuality is not acceptable for Christians and is a sin.

Then you get a note from the money-transfer giant that you are being investigated. Another note follows shortly later that your account is being closed and PayPal will hold the money for 180 days, and then return it to you. But you don’t have any access to it any longer.

Those are the circumstances that have developed with Christian activist Julio Severo, who posts writings online on his international Last Days Watchman blog, teaching Christian values and alerting readers to anti-Christian influences worldwide.

In his case, PayPal, on the heels of an online campaign by homosexuals demanding that Christians such as Severo be denied the use of the PayPal system, sent an email announcing an “investigation.”

Then PayPal executives dispatched an email explaining that because of “legal and regulatory constraints,” the company is “unable to process donation payments for non-registered charities and non-profit organizations; political party/organizations; religious institutions; personal/organizational fundraisers, etc. …”

“This is not a decision we make lightly, and we deeply regret any inconvenience or frustration this matter may cause you,” wrote “Sugar” from the PayPal Compliance Department.

“Your remaining account balance will be held in your PayPal account for 180 days from the date your account was limited. After 180 days, you will be notified via e-mail with information on how to receive your remaining funds.”

The message included a link to the company’s user agreement that explained transactions couldn’t involve any violation of the law, sales of narcotics or “items that promote hate, violence, racial intolerance,” obscenity, ponzi schemes, fraud, illegal tobacco or gambling.

It said charity donations need “pre-approval.”

But it said nothing, however, about stopping friends from sending money to friends.

“PayPal says that it does not allow the use of its service for activities that promote hatred, violence or racial intolerance, but its action against my account was spurred by a hate campaign by gay activists wanting to shut down my account,” Severo told WND. “I am very worried, because PayPal caved in to gay militants and their hate campaign to have me excluded from PayPal.”

He explained, “I use PayPal to pay essential services to me and my family. And we are in a very limited situation, because we are away from Brazil because of gay and government persecution. Our resources are limited. And now under pressure of my persecutors, PayPal is making sure that my ways to receive donations may be even more limited and hard.

“Millions of individuals use PayPal to receive money. Why cannot I receive too?”

He said he is a pro-family leader who is a Christian.

“I am not a charity. I am only a Christian individual with a wife and four little children,” he said. “I wonder if PayPal will shut down the accounts of the homosexual militants who launched the hate campaign.”

PayPal refused to respond to email and telephone message requests from WND for comment on the closure of Severo’s account. A PayPal employee who instructed WND that he be identified only as “spokesman” told WND earlier that the company will crack down on anyone it decides has “incited hatred, violence or intolerance because of a person's sexual orientation.”

The spokesman, who insisted the company recognizes free-speech rights the rights of free speech, said he wouldn’t comment on “any specific accounts.”

But others weren't hesitant to express their opinion. Don Hank, who runs the Laigle's Forum website, said, “This is war. … PayPal is now official the enemy of traditional Christianity.”

“Look folks,” he continued, “this business of being registered … is bogus. Registered? With whom? Julio is not in the U.S. and may not need to register in the country in which he is located.”

“Julio really needs your help now. If you want to donate, let me know and I can work out details of how to send him donations. (Moneygram and Western Union are probably good options, until they decide to join the Anti-Christ too!”

He said there are Christians to say, “Pray but do nothing to help.”

“That’s not me. Can’t do it. Won't do it. Believe it is contrary to the Word of God. It's like that parable: if a son asks his father to give him a fish, will he give him a stone? … My method is: Pray as hard as you can, fight as hard as you can, give as much as you can,” he said.

It took only minutes after Severo’s confirmation of the PayPal action that his supporters were circulating one of many discussions on alternative payment processes to PayPal.

And an attorney from Europe said it was an outrageous display of discrimination based on beliefs.

In a terse memo to PayPal, Austrian lawyer Inge Boening told the company, “I am deeply shocked by the thoughtless and over-hasty decision to bow to heterophobic hate groups, which is utterly insensitive to, and therefore has to be considered a continuation of, the history of persecution of religious people in general and, together with Jews, Christians in particular.

“In such a situation of vicious mobbing conducted by hate groups against religious people your guiding light should have been a clear and unmistakable stance against persecution,” Boening wrote.

“This could have been PayPal’s great chance to show the world that, as a global provider of payments in a diverse world, you maintain neutrality as regards content of the expressions of free speech exercised by whoever be your customers, setting a precedent that political action should focus on fact-based debate rather than bullying and attempts to destroy one's political opponent economically.

“However, by kow-towing before the lobby against free speech, you have missed this opportunity to emphasize neutrality. From now on you must be considered primarily an instrument of suppression of freedom rather than merely a payment services provider.”

Boening wrote that his course is clear; if he does not get confirmation that PayPal has reversed itself, he will cancel his account “and will encourage others to do the same.”

When WND reported just days ago on the “investigation” that resulted from an online campaign of “hate” against a list of Christian organizations, it was noted that Peter LaBarbera’s “Americans for Truth” also got a notice of investigation from PayPal. His ministry, like Severo’s, is unabashedly Christian, and both deal directly with the biblical perspective of homosexuality.

At the time, a campaign by the AllOut.org website was actively stirring up intolerance toward the Christians and was demanding that PayPal stop allowing them access to its services.

The online campaign criticized “anti-LGBT extremists” who are using PayPal to raise money for “their dangerous cause.”

It put bull’s-eyes on Severo and LaBarbera as well as Abiding Truth Ministries, New Generation Ministries, Noua Dreapta of Romania, Truth in Action Ministries, Dove World Outreach, Faith Word Baptist Church, Family Research Institute and American Society for the Defense of Tradition[al Family.

At least one of those organizations, Truth in Action, said the AllOut campaign was seriously flawed from the beginning, because it never has had any business relationship with PayPal.

AllOut alleges those groups promote “hate.”

But Severo contended at the time that the opposite is true.

“I want you to know that we Christians love homosexuals, but we disagree with their immoral lifestyles,” he told PayPal.

Severo said AllOut also is working on Facebook, Twitter and through emails to pressure PayPal to censor his religious beliefs.

LaBarbera told WND his organization has not received subsequent notifications from PayPal yet. But he said he was well aware of the “hate-Christians” campaign that was being assembled online to apply pressure to PayPal.

The issue seems to contradict some of PayPal's own policy statements, which encourage people to offer donations for benevolent ventures:

“Use PayPal on microplace to empower people to start a business and work their way out of poverty. Your investment will make a difference in the lives of the world's working poor. It’s the smart way to do good in the world. And with PayPal, you can also make a gift to your favorite non-profit organization by donating money using your PayPal account.”

The company also says PayPal “is the faster way to send money to friends and family. And if you use just your bank or PayPal balance, it's free.”

Further, PayPal claims it “isn’t just for shopping.”

“Use PayPal to send money via e-mail (or even cell phone) to almost anyone in 190 markets and 24 currencies — all you need is their email address. It's perfect for splitting the check, paying the babysitter, or sending money as a gift.”

The company even offers various tools to “readily create fundraising marketplaces that tap into the wisdom of the crowd to identify worthy projects. … PayPal handles the money flow behind the scenes.”

A PayPal user who contacted the company about its denial of service to Severo was rebuffed.

“Niamh” at PayPal wrote, “Thank you for contacting PayPal regarding PayPal preventing a customer for (sic) using our service. I have reviewed your account and email and can confirm that due to Data Protection I am unable to comment on a third party account.”

LifeSiteNews.com already has created an online petition in support of the Christian websites and ministries that says, “I protest the attack by homosexual organizations on Christian activists Julio Severo, Americans for Truth About Homosexualty (AFTAH), and Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP). I encourage PayPal to affirm the right of pro-family organizations to use its service and to reject attacks on the Christian faith and other religions that uphold sexual morality and defend family values.”

According to LaBarbera, the issue is that homosexual activists no longer are content to merely live their lifestyle; they now are demanding that people with biblical perspectives with which they disagree be shut down.

“They want dominance even if it means smearing pro-family people as ‘haters’ and destroying our cherished religious freedoms,” he said.

WND reported earlier when Severo confirmed his website had been under surveillance by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, even though the government declined to respond to questions about the situation.

WND also reported when a similar series of attacks were generated against online ministries and groups that discuss the danger of Islam.

PayPal reportedly cut off several accounts because of concerns about their message of truth about Islam, then restored them a short time later.

Popular activist, author and blogger Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs, who has also been involved in founding the Freedom Defense Initiative and Stop Islamization of America, reported getting intimidating letters from PayPal that claimed the websites “promote hate” and “racial intolerance.”

According to Geller, PayPal sent her letters explaining the websites had violated the company’s policy, which bans use of PayPal for items that “promote hate, violence, racial intolerance or the financial exploitation of a crime.”

To comply, Geller reports, she was required to remove PayPal as a payment option from her websites, as well as all references to the company, its logo and shopping-cart features.

She later reported an executive with the company called and explained the decision was in error and that financial services to the websites could resume.

WND also reported when the Charitable Give Back Group, formerly known as the Christian Values Network, reported activists were working online to gather signatures and scare customers away because of the Christian message.

September 19, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Under pressure from homosexual activists, PayPal has decided to deny service to famed Brazilian pro-life and pro-family Christian activist Julio Severo.

In additon, at least two Christian organizations targeted by the same activists remain under investigation by PayPal and may also lose use of the service.

Severo, an Evangelical essayist who also translates for LifeSiteNews, maintains a highly influential blog in Portuguese that is read and commented on by politicians in Brazil’s federal government. He is also the author of several books, including a work on the homosexual movement in Brazil. (See his blog in Portuguese here and his blog in English here.)

Severo’s use of PayPal has been targeted in recent weeks by the homosexual group “All Out,” which has created an online petition to urge PayPal to dump Severo and nine other PayPal users as purveyors of “hate” and “extremism.” Severo’s site expresses love of homosexuals and a concern that homosexual behavior is destructive to those who participate in it.

Following the initiation of the campaign, Severo and several others on the list have been contacted by PayPal, asking for information on their organizations and implying that they are not in compliance with PayPal policies.

Following Severo’s response noting that he is not an organization, only an individual, PayPal responded today stating, “We appreciate your interest in PayPal. However, due to legal and regulatory constraints, PayPal Private Limited is unable to process donation payments for non-registered charities and non-profit organizations (NPOs); political party/organizations; religious institutions; personal/organizational fundraisers, etc in countries under its jurisdiction.”

“This is not a decision we make lightly, and we deeply regret any inconvenience or frustration this matter may cause you,” PayPal adds. “Please understand that this decision is final.”

The organization adds that it will not permit Severo to access any funds remaining in the account for 180 days, after which it will inform him of how to recover them.

Homosexual militants have sought to silence Severo for years, and the elimination of his PayPal account is the third major success scored in their campaign.

In 2009 Severo was forced to flee Brazil with his family after police launched an investigation of him for criticizing the behavior of homosexuals during their marches. Criticism of homosexual behavior is restricted in Brazil.

Homosexuals also managed to remove Severo’s blog from Blogger for a short period of time in 2008, after complaining about its content. However, following a massive outcry from Brazilian Christians, his site was restored.

“I am very worried, because PayPal caved in to gay militants and their hate campaign to have me excluded from PayPal,” Severo told LifeSiteNews.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) (http://aftah.org), who is also under investigation by PayPal, said that PayPal’s actions indicate an “open season on Christians” by homosexual activists.

“It is appalling if not shocking that PayPal dropped Brazilian pro-family hero Julio Severo, using some bureaucratic pretense,” LaBarbera told LifeSiteNews. “Apparently it’s now open season on Christians in the corporate world.”

“Julio has a highly effective blog - that’s why he became a target of the Homosexual Lobby. The Left can’t answer his ideas, so they target his funding. By dropping Julio days after the launch of All Out’s “gay” propaganda campaign, PayPal joins the ranks of anti-Christian companies who have taken sides in the Culture War—against committed believers.”
