Brazil’s Pro-Abortion Neo-Pentecostal Church Modeled After Solomon’s Temple to House Holocaust Museum

The largest neo-Pentecostal building in South America’s most populous city will have a museum dedicated in remembrance to the Holocaust victims.

The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) will build a Holocaust museum within its 10,000-seat Solomon’s Temple complex in Sao Paulo, Brazil — a $300 million replica of the most revered house of worship in the Torah.

UCKG said in a statement that the project is being planned in consultation with Jewish community leaders.

Bishop Edir Macedo, UCKG founder, is an outspoken advocate of legal abortion. He also embraces cessationism — a doctrine largely favored by traditional Calvinists that rejects prophecies and other supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit for today. So by advocating abortion and cessationism UCKG is a neo-Pentecostal denomination very different from other neo-Pentecostal and evangelical churches.

UCKG has been a traditional supporter of Israel and the Jews. Because even under right-wing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Israel has been pro-abortion and pro-homosexuality, there is no conflict between UCKG and Israel in these respects.

After supporting right-wing candidate Fernando Collor for president in Brazil in 1989 and later being rejecting by him when he became president, UCKG began to support pro-abortion socialist candidates, including Luiz Inácio “Lula” da Silva and Dilma Rousseff, who became presidents (2003-2016).

Yet, since 2018 UCKG has supported right-wing candidate Jair Bolsonaro, who became Brazil’s president. TV Record, UCKG’s TV channel that is the second largest TV channel in Brazil, has granted extensive support to Bolsonaro, who has given most of his exclusive TV interviews to Record.

While most Jews see Nazism as a right-wing dictatorship, in his visit to the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, Israel, Bolsonaro said that Nazism was a left-wing dictatorship.

It is praiseworthy UCKG’s efforts to remember the Jewish victims of Nazism through a museum. Such move put UCKG in a favorable light among evangelicals, who are diligent to remember that the Jews were victims of Nazism and the Inquisition.

However, it is contradictory to expose crimes against the Jews while the UCKG founder keeps defending crimes against unborn babies. Cannot he see that both crimes are crimes?
