Is Russia Also Behind the Anti-Vaccine Movement?

Is Russia Also Behind the Anti-Vaccine Movement?

By Julio Severo
Accusations against Russia, coming from left-wingers and right-wingers, are so trendy today in the Big Media that the they added another accusation: Russia is behind the anti-vaccine movement.
Considering that Russia is economically unable to defend itself from all the accusations, it is the perfect scapegoat that fits all ideological whims and complaints.
According to the DailyMail report titled “Russian trolls and Twitter bots are driving the global anti-vaxxer movement online, study reveals”:
“Since 2009, the proportion of so-called anti-vaxxers has increased… The debate over shots has become dramatically more heated and if social media activity were your measure, you might think that anti-vaxxers are winning. In fact, anonymous spam bots and Russian trolls are behind an out-sized proportion of social media activity against vaccination, according to the revelatory study published today by George Washington University.”
According to a New York Post report titled “Russian internet trolls spread anti-vaxxer propaganda”:
“More than 250 tweets linked to an agency backed by Vladimir Putin’s Russian government used more sophisticated tactics,” sharing “anti-vaccination messages 75 percent more than average Twitter users.”
CNN, dubbed by Trump as FakeNews Media, said in a report titled “Why Russian trolls stoked US vaccine debates”:
“Russia’s meddling online went beyond the 2016 US presidential election and into public health, amplifying online debates about vaccines.”
In a report titled “Russian trolls and Twitter bots exploit vaccine controversy,” the Washington Post said,
“Public health experts battling dangerous misinformation about the safety of vaccines have a new foe: Twitter bots and Russian trolls.”
There are many other members of Big Media blaming Russia for the increase of interest in the anti-vaccine message. There is an obvious powerful collusion of Big Media to dupe parents that the base for their anti-vaccine stance is “misinformation” from Russia!
If Russia can be used as a scapegoat for the political ailments of U.S. left-wingers and right-wingers, why not also of the financial ailments of Big Pharma in their losses over parents choosing to protect their children from immoral and even dangerous vaccines?
Before 2009 I had strong views against vaccination not because of alleged Russian indoctrination. I was in touch since the 1980s with the U.S. homeschool movement, where mandatory vaccination is not an indisputable dogma.
When I learnt the truth about vaccines from the U.S. homeschool movement, I had absolutely nothing with Russia, and for many years the only connection I saw was between the anti-vaccine movement and the homeschool movement.
Big Media spent years demonizing parents who protect their children from vaccinations. Because their dirty tricks did not work, now they come up, in collusion with Big Pharma, with the propaganda that anti-vaccine parents have been somehow duped by Russia!
Hollywood mega-star Chuck Norris has articles against vaccines. Has he been also duped by Russia?
What will Big Media do next? Will it say that the homeschool movement is a Russia strategy to destroy the West? Even though homeschooling is legal in Russia, the American model is older.
I will not be surprised if they say that the Loch Ness monster is a Russian invention or that Russia killed Elvis Presley. After all, it is just trendy to blame Russia for everything, for anything and for nothing.
