“The Reliant,” a conservative Christian movie challenging Christians and non-Christians on guns, violence, forgiveness and salvation

Economic collapse causes widespread rioting and social unrest, leaving a lovesick 19-year-old girl struggling to care for her siblings in a stretch of woods bordered by lawless anarchy, wondering why a good God would let this happen. This is the environment of “The Reliant,” a conservative Christian movie challenging Christians and non-Christians on guns, violence, forgiveness and salvation.

When my wife and I watched the preview of “The Reliant,” by courtesy of its producer, Patrick Johnston, we expected everything from this Christian movie, except guns and violence.

Yet, the abundance of guns and violence in the movie has in no way overshadowed conservative Christian principles, especially forgiveness and salvation.

“The Reliant” portrays a world in collapse where guns are tools of violence in the hands of people of violence and where guns have a mixed reception among Christians, with some refusing having anything to do with them, with some using them in a wrong way and with others understanding that they have usefulness and importance in a decayed world.

“The Reliant” is a Christian action movie with a powerful conservative and evangelistic message impacting how unbelievers use guns without Christ and how Christians apply the lordship of Christ when using or not using guns. It was written and produced by the pro-family, pro-life, family practice physician and author Dr. Patrick Johnston.

“The Reliant” will be in over 750 theaters across the United States on October 24, and will be available on DVD and VOD on December 3. Its stars include Kevin Sorbo, Brian Bosworth, Nicole C. Mullen and the Benham Brothers. It has received 13 First Place awards at secular and faith-based festivals.

The film has received negative coverage from the left-wing press because of its defense of the right to keep and bear arms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution — which makes the film very timely considering that socialists defend gun control. Kevin Sorbo, a famous Hollywood star, is an outspoken conservative, anti-socialist evangelical Christian.

Socialists always seek to disarm innocent populations while keeping all the guns in the hands of a cruel socialist elite. The result is that an armed elite can do whatever it wants to, including killing, an unarmed population.

Any government taking the God-given rights we have to defend ourselves, our families and our properties is a government usurping rights God has never given to it. “The Reliant” serves as an undeniable warning that the gun control politics of socialism are a threat to Christians and non-Christians, that people without Christ can do great violence with or without guns and that Christians should understand that guns are necessary tools for defense, not violence.

“The Reliant” leads you to several challenging questions:

* What do you do when armed violence hits all society and you are an anti-gun Christian?

* What do you do when armed violence hits your family and you are a Christian? Do you answer with unarmed or armed defense?

* What do you do when armed non-Christian people kill your family? Do you answer with vengeance or forgiveness?

* What happens if a murderer repents and accepts Jesus Christ as his Savior? Is there hope for him?

“The Reliant” answers these and many other hard questions.

The left is obsessed over imposing gun control on the civilian population, as if firearms were the leading cause of deaths. But official U.S. statistics indicate that left-wingers are wrong. The leading cause of murder in the United States is by far abortion, which is fully protected by leftists with various absurd laws. While the defense weapons’ function is to protect lives against armed criminals, the function of legal abortion is to kill innocent lives.

Legal abortion, protected by left-wingers, provokes over 600,000 murders a year. Firearms in the hands of criminals provoke about 12,000 murders a year, and they are not among the leading causes of deaths. But if American citizens were disarmed, as the left wants, the number of murders would increase dramatically, as Brazil’s poor example shows, where gun control policies historically dominate, and the predicted outcome is over 60,000 murders a year.

I am sure that if gun control is approved in America, armed violence will become one of the leading causes of death in the United States, because criminals will have a monopoly on gun, just as in Catholic Brazil.

Leading causes of death in the United States (unless otherwise noted, all the data are for 2015), based on the official data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a U.S. federal agency that is the leading national public health institute of the United States.

* Legal induced abortions: 652,639 (2014) deaths. This is about 2,000 deaths every day.

* Heart disease: 633,842

* Cancer: 595,930

* Cigarette smoking: 480,000 deaths per year, including over 41,000 deaths resulting from secondhand smoke exposure. This is about one in five deaths annually, or 1,300 deaths every day.

* Medical errors: 250,000 deaths per year (Johns Hopkins Medicine).

* Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 155,041

* Accidents (unintentional injuries): 146,571

* Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 140,323

* Alzheimer’s disease: 110,561

* Alcohol: 88,000

* Diabetes: 79,535

* Hospital Associated Infection: 75,000 deaths (2014).

* Drug overdose: 63,600 (2016).

* Influenza and pneumonia: 57,062

* Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 49,959

* Intentional self-harm (suicide): 44,193

* Firearm homicides: 12,979

Spiritual Gun Control Is Not God’s Idea

Armed defense is the proper response to armed violence. And from the perspective of personal and family security, gun control makes no sense, and its advocates are mindless and irresponsible.

Yet, physical violence is not the only threat to you and your family. There are creeping, unseen dark threats lurking from the spiritual world. And they are so lethal as physical threats.

As liberal and mindless authors propose gun control (which they ultimately intend as gun ban) to society, liberal and mindless theologians propose spiritual gun control to the church: no supernatural gifts from the Holy Spirit to fight and expel demons.

Secular gun control is moved by political ideology and spiritual gun control is moved by theological ideology.

Young men and women, who were brought up even in conservative Christian homes, are enticed by dark forces, and their families are powerless and disarmed to fight their spiritual enslavers because they have been misled by spiritual gun control advocates.

There is a spiritual war raging around everyone. Supernatural gifts are supernatural weapons. Without them, even Christians are easy preys to demonic forces and their attacks.

Prophecy, revelation, healings, tongues and other supernatural gifts are God’s arsenal for his church. They are necessary for delivering the captives and oppressed. They are necessary against spiritual enemies.

Satan has a powerful arsenal, available to sorcerers and other Satanists, to destroy individuals and families, and his weapons can only be countered by Jesus’s authority and weapons.

To preach the gospel without such authority and weapons is something that Jesus never let his apostles do, and he promised this authority and spiritual military equipment to his church for its mission in the whole world, because you should never go without them, especially in the confrontation with evil forces.

Jesus said to his disciples,

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:15-18 NIV)

He did not promise spiritual gun control. He promised the right to have and carry spiritual weapons in the whole world! Because the original apostles were unable to reach the whole world, this promise is to you and me!

However, as liberals want to ban guns in society, mindless theologians want to ban spiritual guns in the church.

Christians have a right to have spiritual weapons and use them against dark forces. Secular gun control is good only to killers, who find defenseless victims. Spiritual gun control is good only to Satan and his forces, who find defenseless victims.

Their propaganda approach to deceive their victims is similar. Secular gun control advocates use bizarre cases of gun violence as a pretext to ban guns to all families needing protection. Spiritual gun control advocates use bizarre cases of spiritual manifestations as a pretext to ban spiritual weapons to all Christian families needing protection. Whether secular or spiritual, gun control advocates think only in their ideology, whether political or theological.

Secular gun control benefits the secular Left. Spiritual gun control benefits the spiritual Left.

Books and articles by mindless theologians advocating spiritual gun control are a threat to the security of God’s people.

If you have spiritual and physical needs of security, you are entitled to have what God has made available to you, through His Word and His Spirit, to defend you and your family.

A gun-control mindset has never been God’s will for you. He wants to empower you and use you as a channel from His Spirit to bring blessings to you and your family, including protection, defense and, when necessary, attack.

The first step is to open your heart to Jesus and His Spirit. Next, by following 1 Corinthians 14:1, you should “eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.” (NIV)

This is the Spirit’s opportunity to empower and arm you!

Gun-free Christianity is Satan’s idea, even when inspired in the minds of theologians. It makes Christians defenseless and allow Satan to attack and destroy unopposed and undetected in his activities.

It is my understanding as a conservative Christian that law-abiding citizens should be fully respected in their right to have and carry guns for defense and protection. Only a communist would oppose such right.

It is my equal understanding as a conservative Christian that World-abiding Christians should be fully respected in their right to have and carry spiritual weapons for defense and protection. Only a “communist” theologian would oppose such right and tell that God does not grant today supernatural gifts.

Spiritually armed Christianity is God’s idea, and it works. It worked for Jesus and his first disciples, who preached and demonstrated the Gospel by healing the sick and expelling demons.

It will work for you too.

There is a spiritual war raging. Arm yourself with God’s weapons today.

Armed defense and attack are God’s ideas.
