Putin signs law enabling sanctions on Facebook and other U.S. social media that restrict and censor Russian content

Putin signs law enabling sanctions on Facebook and other U.S. social media that restrict and censor Russian content

By Julio Severo

The power of Facebook, Twitter and other U.S. social media giants is so big that they restricted even posts by President Donald Trump in 2020. In turn, Trump tried to approve measures to restrict the excessive power of these giants, but their efforts were not approved by the U.S. Congress.

That is, Facebook and other U.S. social media giants are more powerful than the U.S. president.

Yet, Russia is reacting against the power of Facebook and other U.S. media platforms that promote Russophobia and restrict and censor Russian content.

According to WND (WorldNetDaily), one of the biggest conservative websites in the world:

“Russia’s Vladimir Putin just punched back against major U.S. social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook for prior censorship targeting Russia, including shadow banning and labeling Russian sources like RT News as 'state media' while at the same time giving Western state-funded media a free pass.”

Russophobia, or opposition to everything from Russia, is a characteristic of Neocons. When Russia was the Soviet Union, it was correct to restrict its communist content. But now that Russia and its government are more conservative, with strong stances against sodomy and pro-family stances, it does not make sense to censor Russian content. U.S. left-wingers do it. Facebook do it. Neocons do it.

According to WND, Putin approved new legislation “which essentially holds foreign social media companies to their same standards. If a company like YouTube or Twitter, for example, exercises censorship for reasons related to ‘nationality, language, and origin’ the new bill gives Russian authorities the ability to impose punishments or restrictions.”

According to ZeroHedge,

Thus foreign platforms in Russia could face fines, regulated or slowed web traffic, or possibly up to total blockage inside the Russian Federation.

Russian officials and media have long condemned the double standards and clear hypocrisy which seems to single out Russia.

For example neither BBC nor Voice of America come with "state-affiliated" labels; and often Turkish state sources like TRT World or other NATO member state media don't come with the labels either.

So by all indicators any ally of Washington seems to get a free pass by the US tech and social media giants.

While abortion activists and gay militants get a free pass on Facebook, Twitter and other U.S. platforms, conservatives, especially Christians, are victims of blocks, shadow banning and other acts of virtual violence and censorship.

Everybody would like to strike back against such censorship. Trump was unsuccessful in his measures. He could not counter the U.S. censorship giants.

In my case, for years I have been victim of the infamous 30-day blocks on Facebook, culminating in the termination of my official personal account just before the U.S. election. I have no power to counter Facebook’s virtual dictatorship.

If Russia has a power that I and even Trump have not, Putin and Russians should use it. Facebook and other U.S. censorship platforms should not go unchallenged and unpunished for their virtual violence against conservatives and Christians.

Whoever has the power to do to Facebook and other virtual dictatorship media what they do to others — blocks, restrictions, shadow banning, censorship —, use it.

Vladimir Putin says “marriage is a union of a man and woman” as he declares support for traditional family values and rejects homosexual “marriage”

Vladimir Putin says “marriage is a union of a man and woman” as he declares support for traditional family values and rejects homosexual “marriage”

By Julio Severo
Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 13, 2020 stressed that marriage should be solely the union of a man and woman.
“A marriage is a union of a man and woman,” he said at a meeting with a Kremlin-appointed committee discussing new amendments to the Russian constitution.
He made clear he would not allow the traditional notion of mother and father to be subverted by homosexualists who seek to turn father and mother just in the neutral “parent number 1” and “parent number 2” even in birth certificates and passports, as it is happening in some Western nations.
“As far as ‘parent number 1’ and ‘parent number 2’ goes, I’ve already spoken publicly about this and I’ll repeat it again: as long as I’m president this will not happen. There will be dad and mum,” Putin said.
During his two decades in power, Putin has closely aligned himself with the Christian Orthodox Church and sought to distance Russia from left-wing Western values, including the homosexual agenda.
His leadership has produced more conservative policies, with groups promoting Orthodox Christian views becoming stronger and left-wing and homosexualist stances attacked.
His actions aim at pleasing the Christian Orthodox Church, which rejects homosexual “marriage” and defends only marriage as a union of a man and woman.
The Advocate, the largest gay magazine in the world, said, “Putin’s Russia is a very homophobic and transphobic place.”
American evangelical Paulie Heath said,
“Being mindful of world politics, and the vast pressure President Trump is putting on other countries, to embrace the evil of sodomy; even threatening to reduce support for these countries if they do not embrace the evil, I can see exactly why Putin wants to make his stand clear - they are not confused about God's intention for sexuality. Big contrast to the morally decadent U.S.”
Presidents of Christian nations should also please their national Christianity. For example, the United States was founded by a population 98 percent Protestant. And their Protestantism was conservative. So it is not wonder that the main voters for President Donald Trump in 2016 were evangelicals.
Yet, Trump has not expressed any rejection of homosexual “marriage.” He has not also expressed any clear support to marriage as a union of a man and woman. On the contrary, he told Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera that he would be willing to vote for a homosexual for president of the United States.
Rivera interviewed Trump on February 13, 2020 and asked, “Would Americans vote for a gay man to be president?”
“I think so,” Trump answered. “I think there would be some that wouldn’t, and you know, I wouldn’t be among that group, to be honest with you.”
Homosexual activists did not put Trump in the White House. Conservative evangelicals did it. Cannot Trump respect and honor his conservative evangelical voters by openly rejecting gay “marriage” and supporting only marriage between a man and woman just as Putin is doing for his Christian Orthodox voters?

Christian Orthodox Putin and Calvinist Viktor Orban Discussing International Alliance to Protect Christians

Christian Orthodox Putin and Calvinist Viktor Orban Discussing International Alliance to Protect Christians

By Julio Severo
The Barnabas Fund, a worldwide ministry working with persecuted Christians, has seen in a positive way how Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed concern about the “mass exodus” of Christians from the Middle East and pledges his nation will do “everything” to protect them from “persecution, being killed, raped and robbed.”
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Russian President Vladimir Putin
The report on the Barnabas Fund and Putin was made by WorldNetDaily, one of the most important conservative Christian websites in the world, which said,
Putin was speaking at a recent meeting with Viktor Orban, Hungary’s prime minister.
The two described the Middle East as the “cradle of Christianity,” and Putin raised concerns about the exodus of Christians.
He pledged Russia "would do everything" to protect them.
Orban discussed an “international alliance” to help and protect Christians as well as other minority faiths.
“Christians in the Middle East have endured severe persecution and violent conflict,” Barnabas said. “Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II of the Syriac Orthodox Church said, ‘Many times, we feel we are abandoned as Christians of the Middle East. We feel we have no friends. That nobody cares about us.’”
Three years ago, Hungary created a governmental agency focusing on alleviating the persecution of Christians in the Middle East. It followed an earlier meeting between Orban and various church leaders, including Aphrem.
Continuing, WorldNetDaily said,
“The Russian stance should serve to strengthen efforts to support these suffering Christians,” Barnabas Fund explained. “Barnabas Fund has supported many projects for Christians in Syria through Patriarch Aphrem’s office and other project partners, including feeding programs and emergency aid after violent attacks.”
BosNewsLife reported Hungary spent tens of millions of dollars on building or renovating churches, hospitals and other humanitarian aid.
“Much is directed toward Christians in the Middle East where thousands have been killed, injured, or displaced by wars and extremist attacks,” the website said.
Putin also said he wants Russia to help restore and preserve Christian “holy sites.”
He said Russian influences already are helping Jewish groups…
Orban, who organized the gathering, said he joins Putin about the Christians exodus.
Putin is a member of the Russian Orthodox Christian Church, while Orban is a member of the Calvinist Hungarian Reformed Church.
An alliance between an Orthodox Christian and a Calvinist to protect Christians should be welcome by all Christians.
While Putin is a nominal Christian, Orbán seems to be leaving the nominal Christianity to embrace a more practical faith. Recently, in a very humble attitude, Orban posted a powerful image of himself kneeling to pray with evangelist Nick Vujicic.
He needs such change. Orbán is Calvinist, but his wife and their five children are Roman Catholic. This is a very common situation among Calvinists, whose faith is so weak and whose Christianity is so nominal that they marry Catholics. U.S. President Donald Trump, who is a nominal Calvinist having been born in the Presbyterian Church, has also married a Catholic woman, but there is hope: he has lately given attention to prosperity gospel televangelist Paula White, who is his top spiritual adviser.
Christians should pray that Putin may have the same spiritual opportunity Orbán and Trump are having.
The partnership of Orbán and Putin to help Christians was also wanted by Trump in his 2016 campaign. During all the year of 2016, Trump made abundantly clear that he wanted such partnership with Putin, but neocons tormented his plan.
Trump needs our prayers to prevail over neocons. Only this way he will have his dreamed partnership.
If Trump ever joins Putin and Orbán, it will be two Calvinists and one Orthodox Christian partnering to protect Christians.
Such partnership should be supported by all Christians.

Vladimir Putin dismisses Greta Thunberg as a “poorly informed teenager” and in answer she mocks him

Vladimir Putin dismisses Greta Thunberg as a “poorly informed teenager” and in answer she mocks him

By Julio Severo
Global warming activist Greta Thunberg has mocked Vladimir Putin after the Russian President referred to her as a “poorly informed teenager” who was being “used by adults” on October 2, 2019.
The 16-year-old left-wing activist has taken the words out of Putin’s mouth and made them her Twitter biography, calling herself, “A kind but poorly informed teenager.”
The Russian president said the Swedish girl should “Go and explain to developing countries why they should continue living in poverty and not be like Sweden.”
Putin said young people who paid attention to environmental issues should be supported, adding: “But when someone is using children and teenagers in personal interests, it only deserves to be condemned. I’m sure that Greta is a kind and very sincere girl. But adults must do everything not to bring teenagers and children into some extreme situations.”
Putin told he did not share the excitement about the Swede’s United Nations speech last month.
The Swedish girl electrified left-wingers at the UN summit in New York when she denounced world leaders for failing, in her vision, to tackle climate change. But no conservative took her seriously.
Putin told it was deplorable that Thunberg was being used by some groups to achieve their own goals. He said: “I may disappoint you but I don’t share the common excitement about the speech by Greta Thunberg. No one has explained to Greta that the modern world is complex and different and… people in Africa or in many Asian countries want to live at the same wealth level as in Sweden.”
U.S. President Donald Trump also did not take Greta seriously.

Putin Fires New Broadside against Western Liberalism, But Trump Does Not Understand that the Gay Ideology Is Part of the Liberal Ideology

Putin Fires New Broadside against Western Liberalism, But Trump Does Not Understand that the Gay Ideology Is Part of the Liberal Ideology

By Julio Severo
Russian President Vladimir Putin fired a new broadside against Western liberalism, saying that policies such as welcoming Islamic immigrants have hurt people’s interests and that the LGBT propaganda aggressively enforces its point of view on others, proselytizing children.
Speaking after the Group of 20 summit in Osaka, Japan, Putin said that Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 U.S. presidential election is rooted in growing public dismay with mainstream liberal policies.
He said Trump’s election victory was driven by growing disenchantment with liberal policies.
“The liberal idea has started eating itself,” Putin said at a news conference. “Millions of people live their lives, and those who propagate those ideas are separate from them.”
He also charged that the influx of Islamic immigrants to Europe has infringed on people’s rights. “People live in their own country, according to their own traditions, why should it happen to them?” Putin said.
The Russian leader added that while “liberal ideas remain attractive as a whole” for ideologists, election results show that people want change.
Putin hailed his meeting with Trump on the sidelines of the G-20 summit as “business-like and pragmatic.”
“We addressed almost the entire list of issues of mutual concern,” he said. “Of course, we talked about the situation in various parts of the world. Overall, these consultations were useful.”
He also responded to criticism from gay singer Elton John, who accused Putin of duplicity after he offered a critical view of the Western emphasis on LGBT rights.
“I deeply respect him, he is a musical genius and we all love his performance, but I believe he’s mistaken,” Putin said.
John and the filmmakers of his biopic “Rocketman” have sharply criticized a Russian distributor’s decision to remove scenes from the new movie featuring gay sex and drug use.
Putin argued that Russia’s ban on LGBT propaganda among children is aimed at protecting them from aggressive proselytizing by the LGBT activism.
“Let a person grow up first before making a choice,” Putin said. “Let the children in peace.”
He said that “our attitude to the LGBT community is absolutely calm and unbiased,” but added that “this part of community aggressively enforces its point of view on others.”
When the Russian law banning gay propaganda was approved in 2013, U.S. left-wing President Barack Hussein Obama attacked Russian resistance against the gay ideology and U.S. homosexual groups complained that such law would make impossible for homosexual indoctrination in Russian schools.
Putin’s broadside against Western liberalism was understood by conservatives around the world, but Trump’s response during a press conference after the G-20 Summit showed that the president was apparently unaware of what the phrase “Western liberalism” means.
One question, posed by Peter Baker of the New York Times, referenced a recent interview Putin gave the Financial Times, in which the Russian president said the “liberal idea” has “outlived its purpose” and “become obsolete.” Baker asked Trump if he agreed with Putin that “western-style liberalism” is obsolete and no longer relevant to today’s world.
Trump said he hadn’t seen Putin’s comments, but noted that he “may feel that way” because he sees what’s going on in cities, such as Los Angeles and San Francisco, that are governed by liberal administrations.
Evidently, Los Angeles, San Francisco and other U.S. cities are suffering the devasting economic effects of liberal policies. But as far as the homosexual ideology is involved, this is not a problem only of these cities. It is a problem pervasive throughout the U.S. society.
However, Trump seemed not have to understood that Putin’s broadside against Western liberalism included also a broadside against the gay ideology. In fact, Trump did not understand that the gay ideology is an inseparable part of Western liberalism.
I could add that Trump has a lot to learn from Putin about the gay ideology as a liberal plan to destroy the family in America and around the world. But this is not necessary. Long before Putin, America has the finest Christian leaders fighting against this ideology.
Scott Lively, Peter LaBarbera, Mike Heath and other Americans can help Mr. Trump understand how entrenched the gay ideology, which involves the homosexual indoctrination of children, is in the Western liberalism.
While Trump saw nothing wrong in Putin’s comments against liberalism and conservative Christians appreciated the positive points, more politically-minded individuals were suspicious of everything Putin said. Author Diana West said, “No, for the billionth time, he’s NOT a conservative. Can you say #Deception? Putin revels in everything multiculturalism (cultural Marxism) has done to ruin US, much of it originating in Moscow. Putin Says Multiculturalism is ‘No Longer Tenable.’”
People who see Russian communist conspiracies all the time use to charge that rampant immorality in America today it is because of Moscow.
Yet, such charges are not based on reality. For example, according to a DailyMail report, Washington D.C. in 1890s had a reign of prostitution. This was the capital of the most Protestant nation in the world, when Protestantism was much higher than today in the American nation. And there was no Soviet Union.
The DailyMail report said, “The White House’s neighbors in 1890s included 108 brothels and 50 saloons.” Prostitution was rampant around the White House more than one century ago.
Comstock also fought against Margaret Sanger, the founder of the modern abortion movement in the U.S. and around the world, when there was no Soviet Union.
In 1915, when there was no Soviet Union, in the book edited by R. A. Torrey, “The Fundamentals — A Testimony to the Truth,” Professor Charles R. Erdman said,
“The sudden rise of Socialism is the most surprising and significant movement of the age. A few years ago the term suggested a dream of fanatics; today it embodies the creed and the hope of intelligent millions. For example, in America the Socialistic vote increased from 20,000, in 1892, to 900,000 in 1912.”
The Soviet Union was born in 1917, aided by American capitalists who wanted to overthrow the Russian czar, according to the book “Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution: The Remarkable True Story of the American Capitalists Who Financed the Russian Communists,” by Antony C. Sutton, published in 1974.
In 1918, Bernard Baruch, chairman of the National War Industries Board under President Woodrow Wilson during World War I, said,
“We are living today [in the United States] in a highly organized state of socialism. The state is all; the individual is of importance only as he contributes to the welfare of the state.”
So when the Soviet Union was born in 1917, American officials were already aware that socialism was dominant in the U.S. society.
Nevertheless, there is a right-wing mania today to blame Russia for all American problems, as if America by herself were completely incapable of sinning. What happened to the Total Depravity Doctrine believed by the Pilgrims?
In fact, even conservative Republican administrations cause massive global problems. In 1974 the U.S. government under conservative Republican Gerald Ford produced, under CIA and USAID direction, the most destructive population control document ever devised by any government: NSSM 200.
NSSM 200 was inspired in Planned Parenthood, founded by Sanger. Who is to blame for the most destructive antifamily paper produced by a Republican administration? The Soviet Union?
In any case, in my answer to Diana West I tweeted,
“There is the stupid left-wing victimism, which blames society for all evils. And there is the parallel stupid right-wing victimism, which blames Russians for all evils in America, which had already a robust Social(ist) Gospel since the 1860s. Sadly, both victimisms are robust.”
Victimhood is a better word than victimism, but the reality remains: Putin has raised a very good point by attacking the gay ideology and Trump showed that he does not understand anything about the homosexual implications of the liberal ideology.
Perhaps this is the reason Trump has launched his recent campaign to make homosexuality legal around the world. He just does not understand that by doing this he is also advancing the liberal ideology.
I hope Mr. Trump may invite to the White House Scott Lively, Peter LaBarbera and Mike Heath, who can teach him that the gay ideology has everything to do with the liberal ideology and nothing to do with real conservatism.
I also hope, according to his 2016 plan of a partnership with Russia against Islamic terrorism, he may add a partnership with Russia against the homosexual propaganda to children and teens around the world.

Spurred by Big Left-Wing Source, Pentecostal Charisma Helps Spread Accusation of Alleged Collusion of Franklin Graham with Trump and Putin

Spurred by Big Left-Wing Source, Pentecostal Charisma Helps Spread Accusation of Alleged Collusion of Franklin Graham with Trump and Putin

By Julio Severo
When Russia was the Soviet Union, U.S. left-wingers did not see any problem. Now when Christian Orthodox conservatism has come back to the Russian government, there is no surprise that U.S. left-wingers are seeing all kind of problem in Russia. The big surprise is that U.S. right-wingers, including their Protestant supporters, are embarking on a kind of collusion with U.S. left-wingers in the same feeling of hostility to Russia.
Franklin Graham and Vladimir Putin
The most tragic is a Pentecostal media embarking on the same political collusion. I say tragic because Pentecostals and charismatics are known for believing and having prophecies and revelations. But what is the point of believing in revelations if Pentecostals choose to live in the low level of dark, sordid political collusions of left-wingers or neocons, the fake conservatives? Revelations and prophecies are granted by God to give people the chance to see above the low level of dark, sordid political collusions.
In a recent report titled “The Russian Connection: When Franklin Graham Met Putin,” Charisma, which is the largest Pentecostal media in the world, said,
When President Trump stood beside Russian President Vladimir Putin… the subsequent firestorm of criticism included liberals as well as prominent Republicans. But there was one group that kept uncharacteristically quiet: the president’s evangelical advisers.
The Charisma report added,
There are good reasons why some Christian right leaders are less than eager to address Trump’s attempts to warm relations between the U.S. and Russia. For years, American evangelicals have cultivated ties with Russia, highlighted by a 2015 meeting between Franklin Graham, son of the late Billy Graham, and Putin in Russia.
But by the time Trump was inaugurated in 2017, the Kremlin had become what Politico described as "the leader of the global Christian Right," largely based on an alliance with Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill.
Graham’s public relationship with Trump dates back to at least 2011, when he told ABC News, “The more you listen to [Trump], the more you say to yourself, ‘You know, maybe the guy’s right.’” The following year, Trump’s foundation reportedly gave the organization named for Franklin Graham’s father, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, a $100,000 check in 2012, while Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian relief group also run by Franklin Graham, received $25,000 the same year and $10,000 in 2013.
Meanwhile, Putin’s ideological influence over parts of the American religious right dates back to at least 2014.
In March of that year, Putin was featured on the cover of Decision Magazine, a publication of the BGEA, in an issue that included an opinion article by Franklin Graham that offered cautious praise for the Russian president. The evangelical leader pointed to Putin’s decision to sign a law barring the dissemination of “propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations” to children.
“It’s obvious that President Obama and his administration are pushing the gay-lesbian agenda in America today and have sold themselves completely to that which is contrary to God’s teaching,” Graham wrote. He later added: “In my opinion, Putin is right on these issues. Obviously, he may be wrong about many things, but he has taken a stand to protect his nation’s children from the damaging effects of any gay and lesbian agenda.”
Then Charisma mentions meetings of Russian Orthodox Christian leaders with conservative evangelical leaders in America as an alleged example of some sort of “intrigue.” The big problem — and you do not need any supernatural gift of prophecy to see it — is that the source for all the accusations of intrigue is not Charisma itself. It is not also some conservative evangelical media. The source was the Religion News Service, which used as its own source… Mother Jones, a famous U.S. left-wing magazine.
Actually, Charisma carelessly reproduced the full report from the Religion News Service, which is plain propaganda against Trump, against Graham and against Russia.
If Charisma had done a diligent investigative report, it would have seen that the Religion News Service was not the original source. The Religion News Service used a very big left-wing source.
The issue is not why Mother Jones and other U.S. left-wingers are worried or even desperate about contacts of conservative evangelicals with Trump and of conservative evangelicals with Russia. The big issue is why evangelicals, including Pentecostals, are allowing Mother Jones and other U.S. left-wingers to dictate to them how should be their relationship with Trump and Russia.
Pentecostals and charismatics blindly following non-leftist sources is bad. But to follow left-wing sources is vastly worse.
In an extensive report titled “What Happened in Moscow: The Inside Story of How Trump’s Obsession With Putin Began,” Mother Jones mentioned Trump’s visit to Russia in 2013 as a worrying point. Another worrying point was the Russian law banning homosexual propaganda to children. This left-wing report was the source for the Religion News Service and ultimately and consequently for Charisma.
Donald Trump and Franklin Graham
Left-wing Mother Jones opened her heart about all her bad feelings on Trump, Russia, Graham and the Russian law against homosexual propaganda, saying:
…the Russian Duma had passed a law that made it illegal to expose children to information about homosexuality. The new anti-gay measure was the latest move by Putin to appeal to the conservative Orthodox Church and ultranationalist forces.
Human rights and gay rights advocates in Russia and around the world denounced the new law. Vodka boycotts were launched. There was a push to relocate the Winter Olympics, scheduled to be held the following year in Sochi, Russia. In the United States, the Human Rights Campaign called on Trump and the Miss Universe Organization to move the event out of Russia, noting that under the new law a contestant could be prosecuted if she were to voice support for gay rights.
The uproar over the Russian anti-gay act confronted Trump with a dilemma—how to distance himself from the law without jeopardizing his big Russia play. The Miss Universe Organization issued a statement asserting that it “believes in equality for all individuals.” That didn’t stop the protests. Bravo talk-show host Andy Cohen and entertainment reporter Giuliana Rancic, who had previously co-hosted the pageant, quit the show. Miss Universe officials scrambled and found replacements: Thomas Roberts, an openly gay MSNBC anchor, and former Spice Girl Mel B.
Roberts explained his decision in an op-ed on MSNBC.com: “Boycotting and vilifying from the outside is too easy. Rather, I choose to offer my support of the LGBT community in Russia by going to Moscow and hosting this event as a journalist, an anchor, and a man who happens to be gay. Let people see I am no different than anyone else.”
This was a godsend for Trump. He granted Roberts an interview on MSNBC. “I think you’re going to do fantastically,” he told Roberts, “and I love the fact that you feel the same about the whole situation as me.” Inevitably, the conversation turned toward Putin and whether he would appear at the pageant. “I know for a fact that he wants very much to come,” Trump said, “but we’ll have to see. We haven’t heard yet, but we have invited him.”
Though US relations with Moscow were at this point deteriorating, Trump was touting Putin as a wily and strong leader. In September, Putin published an op-ed in the New York Times that opposed a possible US military strike against the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria (in retaliation for its use of chemical weapons) and that denounced President Barack Obama for referring to American exceptionalism. The next day, Trump on Fox News commended Putin’s move. “It really makes him look like a great leader,” he said.
The following month, Trump appeared on David Letterman’s late-night show. The host asked if Trump had ever done any deals with the Russians. “I’ve done a lot of business with the Russians,” Trump replied, adding, “They’re smart and they’re tough.” Letterman inquired if Trump had ever met Putin. “He’s a tough guy,” Trump said. “I met him once.” In fact, there was no record he ever had.
Do you have a relationship with Putin and any sway with the Russian leader? Roberts asked him. Trump was unequivocal: “I do have a relationship.” He paused. “I can tell you that he’s very interested in what we’re doing here today. He’s probably very interested in what you and I are saying today. And I’m sure he’s going to be seeing it in some form.”
Trump could barely contain his praise for Russia’s president: “Look, he’s done a very brilliant job in terms of what he represents and who he’s representing. If you look at what he’s done with Syria, if you look at so many of the different things, he has really eaten our president’s lunch. Let’s not kid ourselves. He’s done an amazing job…He’s put himself at the forefront of the world as a leader in a short period of time.”
But Trump had decided to attend the celebration of evangelist Billy Graham’s 95th birthday on November 7 at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina. In Russia, Trump told Goldstone that it had been necessary for him to show up at the Graham event: “There is something I’m planning down the road, and it’s really important.”
Goldstone knew exactly what Trump was talking about: a run for the White House. Franklin Graham, the evangelist’s son, was an influential figure among religious conservatives. When Trump two years earlier was championing birtherism—the baseless conspiracy theory that Barack Obama had been born in Kenya and was ineligible to be president—Graham joined the birther bandwagon, raising questions about the president’s birth certificate. Appearing at this event and currying favor with Franklin Graham was a mandatory stop for Trump, if he was serious about seeking the Republican presidential nomination. And it paid off: Trump and his wife Melania were seated at the VIP table along with Rupert Murdoch and Sarah Palin. Franklin Graham later said that Trump was among those who “gave their hearts to Christ” that night.
So these are the worries of Mother Jones, one of the most left-wing publications in the United States. The mystery is not why Mother Jones and other U.S. left-wing publications are so opposed to evangelical involvement with Trump and Russian conservatism today and Trump’s involvement with Russia. The mystery is why evangelicals, especially Charisma, would used its powerful media to let a left-wing article spread its venom against Trump and Russian conservatism.
The problem is not only a lack of attention to God’s Word and prophecies and revelations. It is a lack of Christian good sense.
While Charisma and some Pentecostals are giving attention to Mother Jones and other left-wingers, the Christian Broadcasting Network and other charismatic channels are giving attention to neocons, the fake conservatives. This is sheer lack of good sense too.
Trump is better than Obama and Russia is not worse than the Vatican. If the U.S. has had a long relationship and partnership with the Vatican, why not with Russia?
Russia is vastly better than the Islamic dictatorship of Saudi Arabia. If the U.S. has had a long relationship and partnership with Saudi Arabia, why is the U.S. left so enraged and desperate to hinder U.S. conservative evangelicals from a partnership with Russia?
Because the anti-Russia pressure from left-wingers and neocons has been so massive, in a time when Russia is more open to cooperation, the U.S. finds itself, even under Trump, seeking all reason and non-reason to impose sanctions, alienate and even provoke Russia.
If the U.S. did to the Vatican only ten percent of what it has been doing to Russia, it would be called, in the midst of outcries, anti-Catholic hostility.
If the U.S. did to Israel only ten percent of what it has been doing to Russia, it would be called, in the midst of outcries, anti-Israel hostility or even anti-Semitism.
The same left that always saw no reason to blame the old Soviet Union today sees all reason and non-reason to blame conservative Russia for everything and nothing. Their inconsistency is glaring to normal eyes but why not also to the Pentecostal and charismatic spiritual eyes of Charisma and other evangelicals?
Left-wingers and neocons are destroying the best chance that the U.S. has ever had of partnership with a conservative Russia.
Perhaps one of the most important signs of such partnership happened in 2014, in Moscow, when the Kremlin held a pro-family conference attended by international pro-family leaders, including me. The conference clearly condemned abortion, the homosexual agenda and Marxism. The late Larry Jacobs, who was a major leader in the World Congress of Families, told me personally that the Obama administration and U.S. left-wingers were threatening conservative Americans attending this conference. Jacobs and other Americans were very courageous to challenge Obama’s threats. Jacobs was a Pentecostal from the Assemblies of God.
Not surprisingly, Mother Jones saw a conservative conspiracy in the pro-family conference in Moscow. But what expect from left-wingers?
Conservative Pentecostals and charismatics should not let neocons and left-wingers — who embrace Saudi Arabia and their bloody petrodollars — guide them in their hateful collusion against conservative Russia.
