Anglican bishop compares Rio de Janeiro Islamic murderer to Catholic and Evangelical pro-lifers

Satan, the Supreme Blamer, was the first to rise up with accusations against the children of God.

Centuries later, Nero, an insane emperor, rose up. He had Rome torched and blamed Christians.

Centuries still later, Satanist Karl Marx arose. He was a former Protestant and blamed God, family and Christians for the evils in the world.

Today, the Supreme Accuser uses not only people like Nero and Marx, but also nominally Christian individuals who, while claiming to despise Nero, are lovers of Marx. Among those there are Catholic and Protestant leaders who use* Christ’s Gospel merely as a stump for Marxist ideas.

In their hands, the Kingdom of God is a mere façade for a socialist theocratic kingdom*, where “kingdom” ideology imposes a Gospel molded in the image and likeness of Karl Marx to rule this world.

Everything opposing the socialist “kingdom” agenda is treated as… apostasy.

Even Christian opposition to abortion and sodomy agenda raises the socialists’ ire, and their faithful Catholic and Protestant lovers prefer alignment with… their ideological siblings.

Any crime, regardless of how distant from Christians, is used as an excuse for them to take revenge on Christians.

In the recent case of an Islam sympathizer who murdered students in a Rio de Janeiro school, a progressive (or “kingdomist”, or Marxist, or socialist, or whatever) evangelical leader compared* the murderer to Catholic and Evangelical Christians who oppose abortion.

In another text, in his routine reasoning poisoned by ideological malice decorated and topped with “Christian love,” this same “kingdom” evangelical, who is an Anglican bishop, declares* in regard to abortion,

“Anyone who thinks, for instance, that by banning abortion he is going to restrain the growth of this nefarious practice, is mistaken. Clandestine clinics express gratitude for any attempt to hinder abortion from being regulated in Brazil.”

Coming from an ordinary individual, this would be an irresponsible and stupid statement. But coming from an Anglican bishop, can one say that these are pure and innocent words?

Such schizophrenic linguistic gymnastics are reminiscent of what Lula once said: “I am against abortion, but I support its legalization.”

These schizophrenic linguistic gymnastics also remind us of Caio Fábio, who says that he is against abortion, but he counsels* its practice — an inconsistency as flagrant as his views and counseling about homosexuality. Not coincidentally, both progressive evangelicals figure prominently in the sensationalist tabloid Genizah.

The fact is, abortion is homicide. My friend Fr. Luiz Carlos Lodi da Cruz, who has a degree in law and is a prominent Catholic pro-life leader, said this about the Anglican bishop’s thinking: “An individual person has an intrinsic value, a certain dignity owing to the simple fact that he is a person. The human person’s dignity is one of the foundations of the Federal Republic of Brazil (first article, III, Federal Constitution). Therefore, what matters is not to know if the overall number of abortions will decrease through its ‘legalization.’ What matters is to know if this human individual in this woman’s womb will or will not be protected if abortion is ‘regulated’.”

The “kingdom” evangelical might have tried to hide his intentions, but the obvious implications of his reasoning are easy to discern if we apply his “logic” to other equally horrendous situations,

“Anyone who thinks, for instance, that by banning rape he is going to restrain the growth of this nefarious practice, is mistaken. Clandestine rapists express gratitude for any attempt to hinder rape from being regulated in Brazil.”

“Anyone who thinks, for instance, that by banning murder he is going to restrain the growth of this nefarious practice, is mistaken. Clandestine murderers express gratitude for any attempt to hinder murder from being regulated in Brazil.”

“Anyone who thinks, for instance, that by banning pedophilia he is going to restrain the growth of this nefarious practice, is mistaken. Clandestine pedophiles express gratitude for any attempt to hinder pedophilia from being regulated in Brazil.”

I had already refuted at length that kind of thinking in my article on an evangelical leader who attacked Christian activism against a Brazilian anti-“homophobia” bill and homosexual “marriage”. Nowadays, that leader writes, together with the aforementioned Anglican bishop, in the sensationalist internet tabloid Genizah.

Inconsistency and paradox dominate the Anglican bishop’s words, which purport to oppose abortion, but display clear indifference to its legalization. In the same breath, he shows favoritism for Marxist ideas while claiming to have no sympathy for Marx. And in a letter on so-called Christian love, he had the chutzpah to say that he doesn’t make use of snide language, but in the same letter, insulted Brazilian philosopher Olavo de Carvalho. He is a silver-medal schizophrenic linguistic gymnast, trailing his gold-medal friend Caio Fábio.

What about PLC 122, the anti-“homophobia” bill threatening religious freedom in Brazil? Anglican bishop Hermes Fernandes laughs* derisively as if Christians opposing the gay agenda were paranoid.

But if I were in his shoes, I would be crying. The Anglican Church is demolishing itself with the advance of the gay agenda in its midst, having already ordained gay and lesbian bishops. And its “more conservative” representatives, like Robinson Cavalcanti, a Brazilian Anglican bishop, are wallowing in a bottomless pit of inconsistencies. Cavalcanti, for instance, founded the Progressive Evangelical Movement, which helped elect socialist Lula to the Brazilian presidency years ago. In turn, Lula put the gay agenda on the pedestal during his administration. Even at the end of his administration, Lula, the champion of gay activists and progressive Christians, gave numerous gifts to gay activists.

Today, with his typical schizophrenic linguistic gymnastics, Bishop Fernandes, who lives in the US, is a devout backer of Dilma Rousseff and Barack Obama, both followers of the Marxist religion of abortion and sodomy. Might the Anglican bishop blame Dilma and Obama for the promotion of that religion in the Brazilian and American society? No, he simply couldn’t do that. He was trained only to blame conservative Christians.

Whether opposed or not to abortion and the sodomist agenda, what progressive evangelicals do and say eventually contributes to the advance of the socialist agenda, although they swear they want nothing to do with socialism. The many contributors include Ariovaldo Ramos, who traveled* to Venezuela to lend his support to Marxist dictator Hugo Chavez; and Caio Fábio, who admitted* that for years he had worked for a rapprochement between Brazilian evangelicals on the one hand and Lula and his socialist party on the other. Other prominent Evangelical socialists in Brazil are Ricardo Gondim, Paul Freston and Ed Rene Kivitz.

They wreak untold havoc on the spreading of the Gospel by perverting it and making it serve an ideology alien to Jesus Christ. Every attempt to build a human kingdom on that ideology has brought about the manifestation of the kingdom of darkness: slaughter, genocide, lies, destruction and horrendous persecution to Christ’s true followers.

When society is destroyed by the fire of their ideology, Marxists, in the tradition of Nero, are quick to blame pro-life and pro-family conservative Christians, who thus must also suffer the accusations of progressive Catholics and Evangelicals.

If someone says that this is the spirit of Nero among Christians, “kingdomists” and progressive Christians quickly deny it, saying, “We prefer the religious descendants of Marx!” or in the style of the schizophrenic linguistic gymnastics, “We want to bring out the best in them!”

It doesn’t matter. Ultimately, the result is the same.

What killed 12 children in a school in Rio? Was it a weapon? Was it violence? Was it prejudice? Conservative Christians? The media are blaming all of these.

According to the Brazilian newspaper Zero Hora, the author of the slaughter, Wellington Menezes de Oliveira, had a predilection for Islam and was fascinated by the Islamic terrorist attack against the US on September 11, 2001.

His dream? To fly an airplane into Christ the Redeemer, a massive statue symbolic of the strong Christian traditions in Brazil.

What was his main motivation to slaughter so many school girls? Was he a homosexual and woman-hater? Although he was in the past a Jehovah’s witness, a heretical sect with doctrines generally rejected by Catholics and Evangelicals, and was obviously confused about biblical truths, Islam is clearly the predominant religious inspiration for his violence and dreams of airborne destruction.

Jehovah’s witness, regardless of their heretical views, have no history of using airplanes for terrorist attacks against buildings or murdering school children. None of the terrorists that attacked the US ten years ago belonged to that religion. But all of them were Muslim.

The mass murderer’s own cousin said: “he considered himself a fundamentalist Muslim and was training himself to pilot airplanes, using a computer game.”

Zero Hora also confirms: “Because he affected a long beard, some neighbors called him Bin Laden.”

Almost none of the mainstream media in English or other languages even mention the murderer’s Islamic sympathy. Imagine if he had expressed admiration for Hitler! Do you think they might have mentioned that?

Progressives and other Marxists are trotting out numerous other explanations, everything but Islamic terrorism, even though Islamic influence on the murderer is unequivocal. The mainstream is merely nodding to the far left, which owns Brazil, lock, stock and barrel and determines the tilt of news content originating there.

The grieving parents will never again be able to recover their precious children. Not just because the school was without protection, but because Brazil has succumbed to a cowardly PC ideology, which has expelled God and his values from schools, introducing a pseudo-tolerance that enshrines homosexuality on behalf of sexual diversity, Islam, on behalf of religious diversity, and African witchcraft on behalf of cultural diversity — all pillars of the new State religion of humanist Leftism. God is gone, and every conceivable ideology that tolerates and even promotes evil has filled the moral vacuum left behind. Satan himself reigns supreme. Is anyone surprised?

Brazilian anti-"homophobia" school material

In the US, after prayers and Bible reading were banned from the schools, those institutions became scenes of slaughter, a macabre scene that persists unabated.

Brazil, a country literally at war with God, has now joined the danse macabre, with the help of a man inspired by Islamic terrorism.

How to stop the slaughter? By putting policemen in the schools, as some have suggested? What if an Islamic-sympathizing fanatic policeman attacks the schools? Whom will Brazil turn to?

What Brazil desperately needs is to seek God’s face. Brazil needs to kick homosexual indoctrination out of the classrooms. Brazil needs to kick “prostitution” indoctrination out of the schools. And it needs to expel witchcraft.

The most conspicuous symbol of Rio de Janeiro is a statue called Christ the Redeemer, representing the One most hated by the devil. This is no doubt why the home-grown Brazilian Islamic terrorist wanted to destroy it.

Let us invite Christ the Redeemer — not the stone statue, but the Living one — to enter our schools. He is our only hope and protection.

Brazilian pastor condemned to prison for spanking children, loses mind

AMAZONAS, Brazil, March 28, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A Brazilian pastor from the nation’s Amazonas region has become mentally ill following his imprisonment for spanking his two daughters, according to local media reports. Until recently the pastor was reportedly handcuffed to a prison hospital bed, where he was forced even to go to the bathroom in front of staff.

Jeremias Rocha has reportedly been imprisoned for months for spanking his daughters, in the absence of any evidence or even a conviction.

Jeremias Albuquerque Rocha, who just turned 26, was an active Evangelical minister in the town of Carauari until May of last year, when a child protective services agent denounced him for spanking his children, for which he was accused of “torture.”

Despite a lack of any physical evidence submitted to the judge, Rocha was placed in preventative detention, in a prison cell so crowded that he was forced to stand during the day, and had to sleep crouched on the floor, which was covered in cardboard.

Months passed without a resolution. No doctor’s report documenting physical harm was ever presented, nor any bodily examination confirming injury - proofs that are required by law.  By August, Rocha had reportedly begun to weep and faint within his cell.  When he was taken to a nearby hospital and diagnosed with mental illness, Judge Jânio Tutomu Takeda refused to believe it, claiming Rocha was “faking it,” and ordered him handcuffed to the hospital bed.

Judge Takeda reportedly ignored physicians’ reports as Rocha continued to deteriorate. On December 9, doctors issued two reports on Rocha, diagnosing him with “serious panic attacks and profound depression, suicidal attempts” and recommending that he have his handcuffs removed and be transferred to a specialized psychiatric facility. Another similar report was issued on January 21 of this year, noting Rocha’s serious condition and recommending house arrest or removal to a specialized unit. 

Despite the pleading of his doctors, Rocha was left handcuffed to the bed until February 2, when his father filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus and a formal complaint with the Amazonas human rights commission. Although the handcuffs were removed, he reportedly still has marks on both his wrists and feet and remains in serious condition.

“Last week, more precisely on the third of March, Jeremias Albuquerque Rocha, who two years ago was an evangelical minister in Carauari, a municipality 786 kilometers from Manaus, turned 26 years old, but he was unaware of the fact,” the Portal do Holanda newspaper reported early this month.  “Jeremias doesn’t remember his own birthday, and has difficulty remembering his name.  His state is catatonic. He stares at the ceiling or the floor. He remains permanently silent, except for the moments in which he begins to panic, pleading for them not to handcuff him or passing hours in repeated crises of convulsive weeping.”

When Amazonas Human Rights Commission President Epitácio da Silva Almeida arrived on March 3 to examine Rocha and investigate the case, Judge Takeda suddenly announced that he had already passed sentence in February, although the file was reportedly nowhere to be found and the verdict had never been announced.  Takeda said he had found Rocha guilty and sentenced him to six and a half years of prison.

Almeida says he plans to initiate legal proceedings against Takeda, and the president of the Amazonas Tribunal of Justice, João Simões, has also promised to take legal action in the case, following his own investigation.

Would you believe genocide against homosexuals?

Is there a danger that gays in Western countries may soon be exterminated by hordes of dangerous homophobes?

Pretty ridiculous question, isn’t it?

No, gays enjoy special privileges here in the West. In San Francisco they are allowed to roam the streets naked during a pride fest on Folsom Street, performing actual sex acts in public in full view of hapless onlookers, including children, unfortunate enough to stumble onto the scene. (I am not going to link to photos of this perversion but, if you want confirmation, you can Google it with the key words: folsom street gay pride or the like).

Yet many Western governments fret over the “plight” of gays, even as Christians around the globe are losing their right to witness to the healing and redeeming power of God through Jesus Christ. The agenda of these tyrants who rule us by Fabian stealth without our consent is clear to anyone with half a brain: They are eager to put an end to traditional Christian culture — in fact, any decent culture at all that includes traditional marriage, law and order.

Even as the new “democratic” governments in the Middle East slaughter their native Christians, while enjoying the wholehearted support of almost the entire Ruling Class – that oligarchy that wields increasingly dictatorial power thru the mighty media, the universities, the “education” system, and the vast majority of cadres of all professions, our own Ruling Class pretends to care deeply about the persecution of gays.

Soon after the Iraq invasion, Assyrian churches began to be burned and their congregations persecuted, murdered and scattered. Many now live in Sweden. The US government said nothing, pretending the only enemy was “terror,” not Islamist fanaticism. The Copts in Egypt are now suffering a similar fate, thanks in large part to Western collaboration. The military of the new “democratic” government supported by Obama and the leaders of Europe attacked a Coptic monastery shortly after Mubarak was toppled, shooting several monks. The Muslim Brotherhood, supported by Barack Obama, is behind the slaughter and persecution. The Western press is silent as the Sphinx.

But the media and the Oligarchy tell us that it is the gays who are persecuted and sorely need our protection. It is a lie. Gays have not suffered even a fraction of a percent of the persecution of Christians throughout the world. And yet they are the new protected class, and governments like Brazil’s are rushing to their aid as though they had all lived through a tsunami, an earthquake and a nuclear disaster.

In most countries, no one dares mention that their lifestyle causes diseases like AIDS or other STDs. No one may even lend advice and assistance to ex-gays or people with unwanted same-sex attractions. My Brazilian friend Julio Severo was forced to leave his homeland because he was working with men with unwanted same-sex attraction who were eager to overcome this and live safe, healthy, moral lives according to biblical guidelines.

He was offering them valuable assistance. Many had seen their friends die of AIDS. Many were concerned about their lives, their health and safety.

But the far-left leadership of Brazil, starting with former president Lula and now continuing with the even more-virulently anti-Christian Dilma Roussef (who is a a former terrorist involved in the murders of several people including one American), says it is illegal to help homosexuals overcome their lifestyle.

Anyone who is in this lifestyle is practically locked in it for life by law.

Anyone wishing to abandon anal sex, for reasons of safety, faith or morality, or whatever reason it may be, would be well advised to leave that country.

There is no room for decency in Brazil. It has undergone a perfect storm of ultra-Marxist evil and is locked in. The rest of the West is catching up.

And most Americans (and Europeans) are oblivious to the moral tragedy that is unfolding there.

It is time to wake up and get to know the folks we share the hemisphere with. It is time to learn a new vocabulary word: No.

Not with us. Not with my country.

Julio made the biggest waves alerting Brazilian churches and society about the gay agenda and about the reversibility of the immoral gay lifestyle, according to biblical guidelines.

He is the author of the book “O Movimento Homossexual” (The Homosexual Movement), published in 1998 by the Brazilian branch of the Bethany House Publishers, an evangelical publishing house. His book was the first book in Portuguese to expose the intentions of the gay-rights movement.

Probably, they can do nothing against him now, because he is away from Brazil. Even so, the largest gay group in Brazil, which was backed by Hillary Clinton to be accredited in the UN system in 2010, is seeking to find his location. This same group, ABGLT, has filed charges against him too.

Priest warns of persecution as Brazil opens emergency phone line to ‘homophobia’ reports

SAO PAULO, March 14, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) — Catholic priest and pro-life activist Luiz Carlos Lodi da Cruz is warning that Brazilians who object to homosexual behavior and reject the homosexualist political agenda in Brazil could soon be targeted by a new whistleblower system installed by Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff.

Beginning in late February, the Brazilian government has begun to take complaints of “homophobia” on its Dial 100 emergency line, which was created to facilitate the reporting of human rights abuses. The system was announced along with a new government program with the slogan, “Make Brazil a country free of homophobia,” which includes a special logo.

“If someone says ‘I need help’ in any Brazilian municipality, it is necessary to act together. It isn’t just acting quickly, but rather the development of an integrated policy for the protection of the citizen,” said Brazilian Human Rights Minister Maria do Rosário, during the presentation of the program.

In a message to supporters, Lodi da Cruz calls the new system a means of “persecuting those who disapprove of vices against nature.”

“Note that, without legal forewarning, the minister now wants to punish those who do not regard unnatural conduct as natural. Whoever complains doesn’t have to worry, because the anonymity of the source is guaranteed,” writes Lodi da Cruz. “Therefore, at the end of the second month of the Dilma administration, her government has already established religious persecution based on free and anonymous telephone calls.”

Although “homophobia” in Brazil is used to refer to acts of violence perpetrated against homosexuals, it is also used to condemn those who publicly object to homosexual behavior.

Dilma Rousseff’s Labor Party has repeatedly sought to outlaw criticisms of homosexuality, but lawmakers, mindful of the public’s rejection of homosexualism, have repeatedly voted against the party’s “homophobia bill”.  However, despite the lack of legislative backing for its agenda, courts have treated existing law as if it already prohibited such expressions.

Lodi da Cruz offers some disturbing scenarios that could arise from the new system.

“The Holy Mass is being celebrated. During the homily, the priest alludes to the first chapter of the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans, which strongly condemns homosexualism, both female and male (Romans 1:26-28).  He cites the words of the Apostle stating that giving one’s self over the “relations against nature” (Romans 1:26) was the punishment of those who “traded the truth of God for a lie” (Romans 1:25). At that moment, someone passes in front of the church and feels uncomfortable with the preaching.  He goes to a public telephone and denounces the ‘homophobic’ celebrant.”

The priest notes that similar problems could arise if a parent who rejects homosexual behavior decides not to hire a lesbian to care for her child, or if homosexuals who are engaged in lewd acts are asked to leave a commercial establishment.

“If a homosexual is murdered, the homicide should be punished.  But it is absurd for the law to impose a special penalty because of the fact that the victim is homosexual,” writes Lodi da Cruz.  “The same might be said regarding someone who hits a homosexual. It isn’t right that the culprit should respond for a crime worse than bodily injury that is covered in the Penal Code.”

Fr. Lodi da Cruz, who is president of the organization Pro-Life Anapolis, has himself been on the receiving end of Brazilian restrictions on freedom of speech.  In 2005 he was required to pay monetary damages to a pro-abortion anthropologist Debora Diniz Rodrigues for calling her an “abortionist,” because the term “gravely offends her personal honor and dignity.”  The decision was upheld by two appeals courts, and the nation’s Supreme Tribunal refused to hear the case.

Prominent Pro-Family Activist Julio Severo Flees Brazil to Escape Charges of “Homophobia”

Majority of Brazilian legislators reject pro-abort agenda of ruling party

BRAZIL, January 31, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A majority of representatives in Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies, the nation’s lower legislative house, say that they are opposed to the decriminalization of abortion, according to a new poll published by the Brazilian news portal G1.

Asked, “Are you favorable to the decriminalization of abortion?” 267 deputies answered “no” and only 78 answered “yes.” Thirty-seven said that they favored it under certain conditions, and 32 said they did not know.

Of the legislators who answered the poll, 64% were against the decriminalization of abortion.  However, 19% of legislators did not answer the poll, which consisted of thirteen questions on a variety of topics.  The percentage of the entire Chamber expressly rejecting abortion was 52%.

The pro-life position of the Chamber of Deputies is in stark contrast to the official pro-abortion position of the ruling Labor Party, which endorses decriminalization and has even driven out members who refuse to adhere to the party’s position.

During the presidential election last year, Labor Party candidate Dilma Rousseff found her poll numbers slipping over the abortion issue, as well as the party’s drive to outlaw the criticism of homosexual behavior.  Rousseff responded by signing a written pledge not to introduce such legislation, although she did not promise not to sign it if it crossed her desk.

The deputies also rejected two other policies dear to the political left: the criminalization of corporal punishment of children by parents, and the decriminalization of marijuana.  Of the deputies that answered the poll, 207 were against criminalizing corporal punishment, and 140 in favor, while 298 were against the legalization of marijuana and only 63 in favor.

The pro-family leanings of the Chamber of Deputies is reflective of Brazilian society as a whole. While Brazilians tend to favor socialist political parties, they reject their socially liberal agenda by broad margins.

A recent poll, reported in December by LifeSiteNews, concluded that 72% of Brazilians were opposed to decriminalizing abortion, and 60% opposed homosexual “civil unions.”

Abortion is a crime in Brazil, and carries criminal penalties in all cases except for rape and danger to the life of the mother.

The technique of reverse labeling

Miguel Nicolelis is a neuroscience teacher at Duke University (USA), founder of the Edmond & Lilly Safra Neuroscientific Institute (Macaíba, RN) and member of the Brazilian and French Academies of Sciences. Added to that notable curriculum was his recent appointment by Pope Benedict XVI to the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences. The Viomundo website, directed by journalist Luiz Carlos Azenha, now introduces him in a still more attractive light, claiming the scientist is a defenseless victim of a vast hate and fear mongering campaign waged by the eternally abominable “extreme right.”

Shocked and intimidated by the murderous virulence of the campaign, Prof. Nicolelis, in a tone of spurious sincerity distinguishing him as an unconditional follower of the free and democratic debate, warns against the dangers of ideological radicalization:

“Your political, ideological opponent starts to be seen as your enemy. And that enemy is subject to any kind of punishment, even death. I cannot imagine that those people spreading hate, revenge and violent messages can at the same time be Christians.”

But, after all, what did the murderous campaign consist of? It consisted of two things: Firstly, a ten-line story, published at the Rorate Coeli website on January 5 (see: http://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2011/01/pope-names-pro-abortion-and-pro-gay.html), stating that Prof. Nicolelis is a fervent defender of abortion and the gay agenda (and also, as of last year, of the candidacy of radical socialist Dilma Rousseff). His presence in an institution linked to the Catholic Church is therefore a little strange. Then, an article written by American journalist Matthew Cullinan Hoffman, published on the website Last Days Watchman (see: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/defender-of-for-abortion-and-homosexualist-police-appointed-to-vaticans-to) and later reproduced with or without additions and comments on a few Christian websites, among them the Brazilian version of Lifesitenews, Notícias Pró-Família, administered by Brazilian writer Julio Severo (I will speak about him later on). Hoffman, who is a Catholic, commented, “Pope Benedict XVI is a staunch defender of the right to life and of family values, and it is unlikely that he was aware of Nicolelis’ record when he made the appointment.”

Was there some threat, any hint of injurious plans? Prof. Nicolelis admits, “No, there was none.”

In view of these perfectly inoffensive expressions of disagreement, how did Prof. Nicolelis react? By debating with his opponents? No way. He himself describes his argumentative procedures:

“My laboratory staff contacted Duke University, warned about those websites and the university police have already begun to monitor the case. The security of my laboratory was reinforced… Nobody enters there without going through security procedures.”

And he cautions: at the first threatening sign in Brazil, he will call the Federal Police immediately.

Among the potential aggressors of Prof. Nicolelis denounced by the Viomundo website, one has already been put under control. Julio Severo, wanted by Brazilian authorities for the heinous crime of having stated and insisted that homosexuality is a sin and curable, is hidden abroad, moving from one country to another, living in extreme poverty with a wife and four small children. Journalist Luiz Carlos Azenha mentions that fact with evident contentment. The Fórum website, by columnist Luis Nassif (http://blogln.ning.com/forum/topics/homofobia-em-preto-e-branco), also celebrates it as a sign that Brazilian democracy is progressing.

The logical premises forming the basis of Prof. Nicolelis’ statements and the reports of the Viomundo and Forum websites could not be more evident:

1) Uttering a single word against homosexuality, even in a generic way and with no threat, is incitement to violence, something unworthy of people professing to be Christians.

2) An informed citizen and lover of the free and democratic debate should react to those opinions by presenting himself publicly as a victim under imminent attack, calling police and having his unfortunate critics persecuted like criminals and hunted down like animals.

The brutally exaggerated reaction is expected to prompt the distinguished public to believe piously that the violent individuals are those who expressed opinions, not those who mobilized against them the armed forces of the repressive State system.

If the reader wanted a local illustration of what I have written previously on the technique of reverse labeling, this is it.

The constant and obsessive use of that technique is one of the most trivial manifestations of the general inversion of reality, characteristic of the revolutionary mentality.

Not by coincidence, but very significantly, Prof. Nicolelis had been railing some time ago against the “hysterical right.” Hysteria, by definition, is a hyperbolic reaction to some imaginary and false provocation. Therefore, when Prof. Nicolelis reacts hysterically, it is the others who are hysterical.

Scientist appointed to Vatican academy admits he is ‘pro-legalization of abortion’

BRAZIL, January 20, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) — A scientist recently appointed to the Vatican’s prestigious Pontifical Academy of Sciences has confirmed in an interview that he supports the legalization of abortion and civil unions for homosexuals, as LifeSiteNews.com and other websites had reported earlier this month.

Dr. Miguel Nicolelis, a Brazilian neuroscientist who teaches at Duke University, complained that the websites “are hitting the same key: the Pope named a person for the Academy who defends the decriminalization of abortion and civil unions between people of the same sex, which is the pure truth.”

“I wasn’t abducted by any alien, nor did they put a microchip in my brain to make me say what I said,” Nicolelis added, laughing. The statements were made to the Brasilian online publication Vi o Mundo (I Saw the World), the same publication that had published the original comments that sparked the controversy.

The interview follows an article on the controversy by Vi o Mundo, which displayed an image of LSN’s original article on Nicolelis, as well as the blog post by the traditional Catholic blog Rorate Caeli, which first published the quotes by Nicolelis in English, and a reposting of the LSN piece in Portuguese on the blog of Brazilian pro-life activist Julio Severo.  The article calls them “sites of the American extreme-right.”

In addition, in comments attributed to Nicolelis on the blog of the prominent Brazilian journalist Luis Nassif, the scientist affirms that he is “atheist, pro-legalization of abortion,” and “pro-civil-unions for homosexuals.”

Are human life and family issues relevant to the Academy?

Nicolelis claimed in the Vi o Mundo interview that his personal political opinions and beliefs are irrelevant to his appointment.

“I never hid [the fact] that I don’t participate in the Catholic Church nor have a religious belief,” said Nicolelis. “What the staff of those sites does not understand is that if the Vatican had seen my ideological, political, and religious concepts as an obstacle, they wouldn’t have nominated me.”

“The scientific issue is the decisive parameter, such that no one asked me to take any position contrary to my personal beliefs,” added Nicolelis, noting that Stephen Hawking, who he says shares his views, is also a member of the Academy.

However, Human Life International, the world’s largest pro-life organization, disagrees. The organization’s acting president, Msgr. Ignacio Barreiro, has expressed “shock” that someone who is “on the record criticizing those who want to see abortion outlawed, and explicitly supporting homosexual unions” was appointed to the Academy.

He is joined by Luis Fernando Pérez Bustamante, director of the influential InfoCatolica, a widely-read Mexican Catholic website, who recently stated on his blog, “I can understand that the PAS is not shut to non-Catholics. But I cannot accept that people who are instruments of the culture of death are permitted to be members.”

He added, “I do not believe that being a good scientist is sufficient to belong to that Pontifical Academy. It should be established that the candidates have a minimum of ethical and moral agreement with the Church.”

Article 5 of the Academy’s constitution says that “candidates for a seat in the Academy are chosen by the Academy on the basis of their eminent original scientific studies and their acknowledged moral personality,” and adds that the choice is made “without any ethnic or religious discrimination.”

Defender of pro-abortion and homosexualist policies appointed to Vatican’s Academy of Sciences

January 6, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Dr. Miguel Nicolelis, a Brazilian neuroscientist who was appointed yesterday to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, is an open defender of the pro-abortion and homosexualist ideology of Brazil’s new president, Dilma Rousseff, LifeSiteNews has learned.

Nicolelis, who teaches in the Department of Neurobiology at Duke University, is known for his pathbreaking experiments with neurologically controlled robotics, but in recent months he has also become known for a public statement made during Brazil’s presidential election indicating that his views on life and family are in deep conflict with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

In an article published on October 26, Nicolelis expresses his outrage at the “hysterical right,” which at the time was campaigning against the candidacy of Rousseff because of her pro-abortion and homosexualist views.

Nicolelis complained that religious conservatives in Brazil were following the American example of campaigning and attacking “the apparent lack of Christian values of the opponent, manifested by her explicit acquiescence to abortion” as well as “her sexual libertinism and lack of moral values,” which Nicolelis says is represented by what he labels her “legitimate approval” of homosexual civil unions.

In addition to his endorsement of homosexual civil unions, Nicolelis goes on to offer a defense of Rousseff’s position in favor of the decriminalization of abortion.

Comparing Rousseff’s opponent to George Bush, Nicolelis writes that “because what is important is victory, cost what it might cost, it matters little to the Brazilian George Bush that thousands of humble and abandoned women die every year, in the hospitals and emergency rooms throughout Brazil, victims of horrendous infections caused by clandestine abortions.”

“George Bush, both the original as well as the generic version of the tropics, probably knows many women of his means that, because of the contingencies and vicissitudes of life, were forced to abort in well-equipped clinics, conducted by highly specialized professionals, royally paid for such work.  Neither of the two George Bushes, however, ever worked a shift in the emergency room of the Hospital of the Clinics of São Paulo and witnessed, with their own eyes and tears, the death of an adolescent victim of generalized septicemia, caused by an illegal abortion, committed by some butcher who passed for a doctor and savior,” he added.

Individuals selected for the Pontifical Academy of Sciences are appointed by the pope himself after being nominated by the eighty members of the Academy.  Members serve life terms.  The Academy publishes several scientific journals and acts in an advisory capacity to the Holy See.

Pope Benedict XVI is a staunch defender of the right to life and of family values, and it is improbable that he was aware of Nicolelis’ record when he made the appointment.

Human Life International’s acting president Msgr. Ignacio Barreiro expressed “shock” at the appointment of Nicolelis.

“I was shocked to read that Dr. Miguel A.L. Nicolelis, a Brazilian professor, was appointed to this prestigious post with the Vatican. He is on the record criticizing those who want to see abortion outlawed, and explicitly supporting homosexual unions,” Barreiro told LifeSiteNews.

“Let us hope that the Holy See will do some research into Professor Nicolelis’ background,” Barreiro continued. “We cannot allow the Pontifical Academy to be corrupted by ‘Catholics’ who claim to be personally against abortion, but who oppose the Church publicly on this and other crucial issues. This falsity of faith has no place so close to the heart of the Church as she dialogs with the sciences - this is where clarity and truth matter most.”

Requests for an interview with Nicolelis, made both by phone and email, were not answered by press time.
